Can anyone tell me what are 2 or 3 of the nicer/cooler coffee shops in Austin. I dont really mean starbucks or a place like that. Maybe a place you can sit outside also.

Suppost to meat a girl and she likes coffee a lot. And she has never been to Austin. Thanks for the heads up.

Metro on the drag is pretty interesting, I used to study there a lot. Spiderhouse is nice too. However, if you're taking a girl out, Mozart's is the best bet.

On 5th and Lavaca, right? It's now called Halcyon, and it's a pretty smooth place. As far as meeting a chick, I'd recommend Mozart's or Halcyon. Spiderhouse is where people go to read and study mostly (unless you're on the deck) as is the case with Little City and the other one across the street from Posse East. I never liked Metro on the drag. Also, there is a Starbucks on 24th and San Antonio across from the Castilian.

anything on the drag and you're going to have to dodge smelly bums who will ask you for money. Downtown is similar.

this is true, but it's much worse on the drag.

i wanna banana espresso rocket shake from metro!!! :(

mozarts and spiderhouse are good for dates. otherwise metro is awesome for the drink i mentioned. i remember when they were $2.75. the price nearly doubled by the time i graduated no thanks to starbucks bringing up the price. all of a sudden, it seemed okay to pay $4.50 for cup of fancy coffee.

It's really good, but the wait can be up to 2 hours, even on a week night. They have a really good shrimp tubular taco. I prefer Z-Tejas in the Arboretum since they let you call in ahead and get on the waiting list. So when you go in, you don't have to wait more than 5 minutes for a table.

A cool, "hidden" coffee shop that I enjoy is a place called 'Texpresso' on Anderson Road in North Austin.

Not the most ideal of locations, and if you've never been there its kinda hard to find, but their signature drink the 'Texpresso' is freakin' awesome.

It's actually in the same strip center as the Alamo Drafthouse off Anderson, if that gives you a better idea as to where it is. Real quiet & laid back, lots of room, too.

    Good luck!

they moved to south congress, right behind expose. i like spiderhouse if your near campus. quacks on 43rd in nice if your in the hyde park area. or flightpath if your in "north" hyde park. there's also a cool one on south first around live oak, but i cant remember the name.
