I Hate it when with Seconds on the Clock in the 4th quarter BARKLEY throws up a 3 that is no where near going in . . .

For all he does. . . that one Bone head move will always be there to f*ck sh*t up [in this case almost]

BARKLEY!!!! YOU DON' HAVE TO BE THE HERO EVERYTIME!!!

Anyone see Rudy Face after that?

We wouldn't even be in any games without him.

I always hate it when he does that too though. He knew tonight it was a big mistake. On the one tonight, I thought he could have gone ahead and driven in closer.

But we win so it is forgotten.

What Chuck needs to quit doing is telling the crowd to suck his apples right in front of the cameras, and microphones. He's gonna get himself tossed or get a real bad reaction from a drunk fan someday.

Insanity - sheer insanity. bballfanatic is right - we wouldn't even be in any of these games if Barkley wasn't there grabbing boards, dealing assists, and generally scoring his butt off in every way imaginable.

True, the man takes an occasional three or other outside shot that we all KNOW is going to miss before it even leaves his hands, but he does way too much else for us to fault him with respect to the team's performance.

Everyone's gotta admit, in every game that we've won so far AND in all those games we could have won but pis*ed away (most of our losses), Chuck has had a solid performance all around. His numbers - and his intensity - have been good all around. It has been the absence of other players all around that has made the real difference between wins and losses.

Shandon, Walt, Stevie and Cat in a couple of games... (Shandon and the Wizard in too many lately) There are others to blame for our horrible record, and even then there are usually fairly good reasons. But don't even start to rack on Chuck. Without him we'd be totally, TOTALLY lost.

If he's got to take it, that's all right, but just jacking one up in the fourth is stupid. He knows he's not shooting well, he should just go to the hole in a situation like that.
Hakeem plays well, Shaq plays well..they don't shoot threes in the fourth. That's a dumb move by Barkley.
Even when he makes his threes I get mad, because he shouldn't be taking them.

Well, let's just be thankful that he doesn't do it very often.

For the most part, he knows his zone. I think he only takes outside shots if: 1) it's clutch time and he has no time/opportunity to get it to a shooter, or 2) he's toying with the opposing defense.

If he's toying with the defense, then that's stupid. But... Maybe it's just his way of vacationing from the boards when they're ahead?

    I dunno...

I almost started a threat named "Can we say LUCK?" But after thinking a bit, I didn't.

The 3-pointer by Charles ...... it almost stole my heart!!! When he got the ball and was open, I was afraid he would take that 3. I screamed "NO!" but he shot it anyway, and missed it badly. Bballfanatic, I agree when you said he should have driven closer to the basket and got a lay-up or drew a foul. He's so much more capable of doing that than shooting a 3.

I agree, if not Barkley we would not have won those games. No doubt he's been fantastic this season as far. But if he shoots a 3 and costs us the game, then no matter how excellent he has done, it doesn't make up.

We won the game, but can it be forgotten? Maybe! But Barkley's got to remember that a 3 is not the appropriate shot for him. I mean he's great and everything, but 3-pointer is just not his game. He's got to learn from this game. Haven't there been enough games for him to learn already?

I love the Chuckster, but he has to just do what he's best at.

Good win after all those heart attacks at the end of the 4th! [IMG]

    I've just had a vision:

I see myself standing up on the couch, screaming NOOOO!!!!!

I bounce on top of my friend on the left and the girl on the right... The girls comes out with a bruised left cheek, but ut's all good because

Charles Barkely won the semifinals against the Sacramento Kings with a tree. My eyes are popping out, the woman I just knocked hugs me and...

    And then I wake up.

And I realize how false everything had been: Chuck doesn't make three's...

Just about everyone here feels the same way I do, without Charles we would be lost. When he retires, even with Cato starting at the 4, we will miss everything he brings to this team. I remember what it was like before we got him, always sending videotape to the league complaining about how the referees weren't making the proper calls while our guys were fighting for positioning in the paint to get the rebound. When we acquired him that all stopped. We became one of the better rebounding teams in the league. When he is gone, man... HE WILL BE MISSED!

Charles would look at you and say "I ain't dead yet, man. You think I'm dead... well lemme bend over and show you..." or something like that. You know what he'd say...

I say he deserves a winning season, if it really is his last...

    Tree,

Let's take the positive side. We will win it all for the Chuckster, who deserves a ring.

... ummm ... is DREAMING allowed here on Clutchcity? [IMG]

    Hey, I'm already in DreamMode.

I'm one of the few who has not already discounted Chuck's ability to get a ring.

He can do it. This team can do it. This franchise owes it to him to get one.

    I know they're good enough.

    Tree,

    You're my friend now. [IMG]

I've been in the DreamMode since the Rox were 0-5. [IMG]

Not many believe the Rox can do it this season. I'm glad you're here. [IMG]

I'm just waiting... for that first blowout against a winning team that I know will come.

    I believe.

I'll agree with you that Chuck isn't a good outside shooter, but ask yourself this question- who would you rather have take any shot for us. I know I want it to be Chuck, although I don't like the 3's either. This is probably the case that someone (RT or maybe Dream) talks to him about his shot selection.
But back to the thread, we win in spite of him? He is the reason we have done anything at all this year. The man continually makes plays (well not always on D!) but he has the most heart on the team. That will to win is what brought us our previous titles, and on a daily basis I don't see it from anyone else (although Francis is becoming a gamer too)
But I would like to have RT say something to Chuck. Maybe the NBA should make Chuck an honorary particpant in this years 3 point contest at the break, to show him how bad he really is from behind the arc!

  16. Rockets101...I don't know what Rocket teams you've been watching the last few years, but since the Barkley trade, the Rox have been a very average rebounding team. Now Im not blaming Chuck for this, just stating the facts.

Chuckie... I was going to start a new thread on who's team this is, and who should take the clutch shots now. Too me, Francis is the most able person to hit the clutch shot. Right now, Barkley's 4th quarter repitoire is so predictable, opposing teams lick their chops when it comes down to the post to chuckie. Plus, Chuck again is floating around 69% from the charity stripe. Much worse than Steve Francis.

I think Chuck Brings a lot to the Game but I've been so hurt when time and again he jacks up a VERY ILL-ADVISED THREE. It has Stopped Runs. It has nearly lost us Games. After he threw it up my heart Bottomed out. I cursed like a Sailor and Woke up neighbors.

But you are Right. . . We Won. . . It can be forgotten . . .. This time.

Dream- If I had a second choice it would be francis, I'm just not ready for him to take that shot yet. I still trust chuck in the post, either passing out of the double team or taking it to the bucket, then to have francis penetrating. I know francis will be great, but I still prefer chuck with the ball.

There's no question that Barkley is our Pippin (what!?!!?!!!), well, he's even better for us than what Pippin does for the 'blazers. He makes the team play better, gives 'em fire when they need it, ball movement and even takes the heat off of Stevie when he thinks it's too much. Sure the big a*$% seems to find its way out of his mouth once in a while, but he's our fire until Francis comes into his own.

And this year I've seen a new trend for the Rox, they've been outrebounding the other teams more often than not. I don't have the actual stats on that, just a general impression after having reviewed so many boxscores. Maybe Clutch or some of you other stat-masters could determine that.
