    :(

The pics are now out there. I've seen a few of them but I'm not going to link to them. Find them yourself if you want to see them.

    ------------
SBS Dateline, an Australian television program, released new photographs from the U.S. prison in Iraq, Abu Ghraib.

These unpublished photographs are part of a sheaf that the U.S. military has been fighting to keep secret in a court case with the American Civil Liberties Union. Read the news article about the photos' release here.

An article in the Guardian said that "there were reports today that the US government was trying to prevent the new images being broadcast in the US."

I've seen some, it goes way beyond just nude pyramid stuff that some people like to pretend was the extent of what happened at AG prison.

It's much worse. They tied down the prisoners and forced them to watch tapes of the most recent State of the Union.

Also, you're hurting the morale of the troops and the legitamacy for war and helping the terrorists win blah blah blah ignore.

Really bad timing w/respect to the cartoon furor.

They should of just disclosed all this way back when and gotten it over with rather than keep the story going with piecemeal disclosure.

I'm trying to find them to see what the new ones show. Either way, it's so sad that the actions of these troops is going to tarnish the name of our entire armed services to the rest of the world. I'll reserve judgment on the pictures until I see them but it's undoubtedly not representative of the vast majority of U.S. soldiers and does nothing but harm our efforts.

Sam I agree but one can only blame the military.

They are the ones that pushed lawsuit after lawsuit to keep them from being published.

Is it bad timing or planned timing?

This is really irresponsible of that newspaper. Trying to create another news story out of the same old event which is/has already been dealt with.

That's exactly how the vast majority of the world's Muslims feel everyday. A few tarnishing the name of the many.

    For anyone who cares --

Salon publishes full dossier of Abu Ghraib probe files

For the first time, the full dossier of photographic evidence compiled by the Army in the Abu Ghraib detainee abuse investigation can be seen...

279 photographs and 19 videos from the Army's internal investigation record a harrowing three months of detainee abuse inside the notorious prison -- and make clear that many of those responsible have yet to be held accountable.

If only they had been wearing their anti-war t-shirts. Then they would have been asked to leave.

actually, its not irresponsible simply because, we as a people should have the right to know what happened in the past, and to learn form those mistakes. I think releasing these new pictures puts more emphasis on really how disgusting these soldiers were and how horribly the iraqi people were treated. And as far as we know this is the only publicized torture, who knows how many more happened behind closed doors.
