This is one of those news things that is still ongoing, so expect more updates later on if something happens. Basically, Nintendo is holding a DS conference in Japan right now. Here's a thread about it (probably better updates than me): http://www.ga-forum.com/showthread.php?t=86185&page=1&pp=50 Here's the news so far: So far, the big one I guess is the Opera Web Browser, probably followed by a May release for the new Mario game and maybe the Tetris price. I'll update more later if something else big is mentioned. edit: I think the Digital TV addon is like a TV Tuner. Interesting. edit2: I guess I managed to post this just as the conference was finishing up or something. Nothing new really mentioned since. Here's the summary: And WE online was confirmed.
For the less than $100 bucks I paid for it (traded in an old GBA and some old games), I'm finding the DS to be one of the better game investments I've ever made. Looking forward to new Super Mario Bros. Tetris Online as well...excellent.
Is Mario Super-Strikers on the DS? I played it on a co-workers gamecube and that game is fun as hell... I'd maybe pick up a DS just for that game.
I don't think so yet, though it is good news to see Winning Eleven coming. And the Fifa and FIFA Street games are coming as well. For Mario sports stuff, I beleive there is going to be a Mario Basketball....made, IIRC, by Square-Enix.
this might be a dumb question but....is this new software only for the ds lite or will it work on my original ds ?
all the software will work on any ds. I think this is true for the addons as well, although I guess there could be some form-factor specific fit of external parts (like the tv adapter). even then, it would probably be more of a cosmetic incompatibility than a functional one. but I would be really surprised if everything didn't work with both models.
Yeah, I saw a regular DS earlier that had the TV addon, so that should work on both (as should the Opera one I imagine). I should note that 1seg is only available in Japan, so that addon actually won't be available outside of Japan AFAIK (at least, not in its current form). Still, the DS can now do a lot of the things the PSP can do (didn't even show off the 4GB HDD from a few days ago that let it play movies), while still providing an incredible lineup of games. Man, Nintendo's been doing some great things with the DS.
