Reggie Jackson did not become Mr. October due to his bunting ability. For the same reason, Bagwell, Alou, et al should not have bunted as well. And guess what? Even if they had bunted and we still lost, Derk still gets reemed for not *dancing with the date that got you there*.

162 game season is not different from a 5 game series? Come on.

In a sport where a 280 BA is average and a 310 BA is highly desirable, I think that comparing different strategies takes a lot of games.

How many times did those Yankee teams hit-and-run during those series? Or those A's teams? There were 8 other hitters--did any of them bunt? Steal? Hit behind the runner, for heaven's sake?? I will promise you that the skipper of those World Champion clubs was not sitting on his ass saying, "Let 'em play."

You're right. There is a community of people who whine regardless of the outcome or the means of arriving there. They whine out of both sides of the mouth, arguing whatever point is convenient to whining. Personally, I was b****ing about Larry's laid back style all year long, all five years.

Yes! So, why on earth didn't Dierk elevate his strategy, or at least drink some coffee for crying out loud? He did everything the same except the one thing he *should* have done the same.
