Anybody have any suggestions for what perfume to get my wife? I want to spend about $50 but I have no clue what kind of perfume to get her.
i'd recommend going to those perfume shops like Sephora and "try them out" so you decide what you like. some out there are really bad, but others are real nice. i don't have any suggestions for you though...sorry.
I live in Austin and I'll probably just go to Foley's or something like that. I always feel stupid when I have to ask the ladies there for suggestions. It doesn't help that my wife doesn't have any idea what kind of perfume that she wants. I'll check out the Gucci Envy.
Chanel. No. 5 tends to be worn by older women, but Allure is quite nice. My wife has worn No. 19 since high school. Also check out Crystall. on a more popular level, Calvin Cline Escape is wonderful.
50 bucks will get you a warm vanilla sugar basket from bath and body works with money left over. I actually bought wifey that and flowers last year. Good luck!
For a really, really good perfume, $50 is kinda tough to work with. If you go to Sephora, I'd recommend a perfume called Laila. It isn't sold very many places (Sephora, Nordstrom and the Norwegian Pavillion at Disney World are the only places in the U.S. that I know of), so her friends/co-workers won't have it themselves. It's a nice clean scent...I get lots of compliments when I wear it. You can get some info on it at www.laila.com. I also like the idea of a little basket from Bath & Body Works. They have a lovely line called Tutti Dolci, which is all desserts. They've got scents like Creme Brulee, Apple Torta, Fantasia di Cioccolata, Sugar Wafer, Mango Sorbet, Lemon Meringue and more. You could pick up a little bottle of the perfume for $24, body wash for $12, Body Scrub is $20, bottle of lotion is about $14. They've got a buy 3 get one free deal going on, too. I can't imagine there's a woman out there that wouldn't like a basket of these things....
Does anyone here have a wife, significant other, or is a girl who actually buys real perfume? I'm talking the actual perfume that comes in the tiny bottle and is very expensive...not the spray that most "perfume" is sold as. If you don't know what I'm talking about, most perfume sprays are not actual perfume. Actual perfume is sold usually by the ounce, is very expensive, but is concentrated so that a woman usually only uses a drop or two at a time. I've thought about getting it for my wife a couple of times in the scents she likes, but I'm not sure she would like me to spend that much on an ounce of perfume, even if it lasts a long time. I know my Grandma used to only use real perfume. She'd keep it in the little crystal perfume bottles and only use the little "dropper" that was the lid of the bottle to put it on. Is it an old lady thing to do, or just an affordability thing?
I advocate REAL EVERYTHING to kids. Especially questionable bottles of mildly hallucinating drinks ordered off of shoddy websites from Eastern European countries.
Very nice. I'm glad I checked back in on this thread before heading out to the stores. I'm going to check out Sephora and probably Bath and Body.
I've had REAL parfum a few times. Those times have been few and far between, but I really, really enjoyed it. I only wore it on super fancy occassions, and they lasted a couple of months each.
You may have already bought your perfume, but I was going to second what basso said, especially the Chanel Allure. A girl I used to see wore it and I thought it smelled great. Doubt you can find a bottle of it for under $50 bucks, though.
