What happend to the Yao Ming song "It's a Ming Thing"? Why don't they play it anymore. When Yao does something good now, they play the Ole song instead. I imagine that money has something to do with it???
I've been listening for it all season and haven't heard it. Stupid Ygnition cable blocked the Jazz game from me... so it probably happend then. I've seen just about every other game though and have only heard the Ole song.
In Yao Ming's book, he says that he doesn't really like hearing the song. Rich Lord read that part of the book on the air after it came out.
I actually like the song and wish they would play it.. but not the whole song just a short clip during the games. J
The Ole song they play IS the Yao Ming song. They've definately been playing it more the last couple of games.
It seems to be a updated version of the song...but it definately is based on the original Yao Ming song.
i love me some yao ming song. I noticed at the lakers game they had it going. Back in the day at time outs they used to play the full version of it.
It was cute for a few months, but got very annoying. If I was Yao, that would be an psychological incentive to not score.
I think it would be could for them to bang a big chinese gong everytime he scores, sort of like when Ben Wallace scores the clock strikes. Maybe later in his career when he's meaner. I think that would be cool.
ok then someone tell me what the hell is up with that lil troy song "wanna be a baller" playing everytime juwan scores ? lol
The ole song is the original one and it is very popular in soccer game. Usually played when a team won the title: you'll see a bunch of players jumping in the middle of the court with their trophy and keep singing... "Ole-Ole-Ole-Ole, we are the cham---pions, we are the cham---pions" repeatedly. Actually the song was a tribute to the Brazilian Soccer Team when they won their 4th World Cup in 90s? (Correct me if I am wrong). We will watch the same thing happened in the Rockets team as soon as this year... BTW, Yao Ming doesn't like the Ming Song and so do I. It's really embarassing considering that it belongs to a champion while Yao is still making his best endeavour for it.
I'm kinda partial to it Nah Yao didn't like it but that wasn't really the point of the song. (For the record Mooch liked his song). Beltran HATED his song so much that I got a letter from his peeps encouraging me not to play it. So I stopped playing it on air. But Yao, alas, found his song annoying. Hmm...wonder why. Maybe because...it was supposed to be annoying and repetitive and corny and was perfect for a chantalong song. We were not going for a masterpiece here, just something fun. (the masterpiece is the White Boy Super Squad). However hearing the Ole song that we based the Yao Song on is kind of a thickly ironic slap in the face. Oh well is summer people suppose get horny
I was trying to listen to the song from the multimedia page but some how the mp3 file no longer exist.
Nah, it's been around longer than that. It's been sung at some British soccer matches since at least the mid-80's.
