I don't think you can just bet Vince vs.The Field straight up. Vince is a long shot, with Reggie the favorite and probably a slight underdog to Trade Down.

But you can't blame a man for keeping a positive outlook.

Hey, ask yourself, if you are David Carr why in the world would you want to play in Houston? If I were him I would have my agent out finding me a place to play that's not Vince's hometown. Playing here is a no-win situation.
Maybe it'll happen because he wants to leave.

If I was a betting man I would set the odds for the Texans pick at

    Reggie Bush 1-1
    Trade Down 2-1
    Vince Young 4-1

I agree. The biggest reason the Texans would consider drafting VY, IMHO, would be for the AIS factor and merch sales. The amount of money they would make next year purely by drafting him would be ridiculous. Bush is still the best player in the draft.

No, the biggest reason they would take VY is they determine he has the best combination of physical gifts and intangibles in a QB prospect going into the draft since, say John Elway.

If that is determined, which is not that remote (I can't think of anyone else with the physical tools and intangables as a big time college QB), whether they have a good QB already on their team or a great RB they could also select in the draft is moot. You could not possibly lose out on a great QB if you have it in your control to get him.

Who would take a 1-1 bet? Even if you win, you're down the vig. You'll probably need to go 3-5 to get any action.

Alleged "inside info" at a UT site says it's Bush, at least if Casserly gets his wish. Nothing against Vince, it will just take too long to develop him, in their opinion.

You know, after 1512 posts in this thread, the one question I have not seen answered to my satisfaction is this: Whether Vince Young is drafted by the Texans or not, will VYOF's be as obnoxious as YOF's?

I'm going to go ahead and let Kubiak and Reeves pick who they think is best player or move on the best trade they can get. If that is Vince, good - I trust their opinions. If it is not, then alright, they know way more about football then people who went to UT and have their first man-crush.
I mean, to say you will never watch the Texans again if they don't draft Vince is [IMG]. While your at it, teach your kids that one player is more important then a team and that if you don't get what you want then you should quit and whine about it forever.

I hate to tell you this, but being gay isn't such a crime at UT/ in Austin.

In Reeves I trust, I guess. Though, I think he did his best to hamper John Elway's development.

Forget the email, start an internet petition like all the other myopic fans who believe they've been wronged and that their opinions really, really matter. Put it on the same site hosting the "Please stay in Houston, Carlos Beltran", the "Please sign Carlos Beltran, Drayton", the "Please bring back Calvin", and the "Please bring back Alan Ashby" petitions. And whatever you do, don't for a second believe you're wasting your - or anybody else's - time.

I really think trading down has become a much more viable option than it was a couple weeks ago. Don't get me wrong, I hope we still draft VY, but I think that once the Texans start fielding real offers for the pick, they'll realize what they can really get for it.

With that being said, I hope the Texans don't fall anywhere below the #6 pick. A realistic deal would be with the Raiders, they need a QB in the worst way and bringing in VY or Leinart back to Cali would stir up some excitement for that team. #1 pick for #5 + #37 + Future 1st? Pick up D'Brick, Hawk, Mario Williams.
