I know Nash is doing some great things and various others But if Cassell can get the FRICKING CLIPPERS into the playoffs and in something more than just the 8th Sport That would be incredible Rocket River
Cassell has been great for the Clippers this year, but Brand would deserve more credit for a playoff birth.
Cassell made him MVP just like he made KG MVP. its time to give him props, he's the best PG in the world and any other world close by.
You mean a Clippers team with talented players like Brand, Mobley, Kaman and Wilcox? Nash deserves the MVP this year, no doubt. This is a team starting Boris Diaw, Kurt Thomas and Raja Bell, and they're on top of their division with a .660 winning percentage. What he's done without Amare and JJ this year is amazing.
Those FREAKING CLIPPERS have a better top-to-bottom lineup than the Suns. If a PG is going to get it, it will be Nash, hands down. Kobe only has a chance because 1) he is a Laker and the media is LA-biased, everyone knows that, and 2) He's putting up great individual numbers, and that will always come into play, especially if his team sneaks into the playoffs. Billups would be behind Nash, IMO, as an MVP candidate. I think it needs to be Nash, I wasn't convinced that he deserved it last season, and this season he's proving all his doubters wrong (including me) from last season and proving that HE, not Amare, is the brain behind the Pheonix Suns. What Nash is doing in the Valley of the Sun is beyond rediculous, I would've never expected it (not would have anyone else) prior to this season's tipoff. Nash has to win it, no question in my mind.
I love Sam, but he's not even the best player on his team. I'm pretty sure the Clips would be better off without Cassell than they would without Brand.
MVP is a regular season award, the playoffs are not taken into consideration. The MVP should be the guy who is quietly leading his team to the best record in the West, all the while making careers for Popavich, Ginobili, Parker, and many others. Tim Duncan is an unbelievable player, and will retire the best PF of all time (which it kills me to say, being a huge Barkley fan).
a two time world champion clown who hit the most important shot in houston rockets history, beating the knicks in MSG. sam clown and king!
nash simply cannot win another mvp. steve nash having 2 mvp's to his credit would be ridiculous by nba historical measures. he's simply not in the class of players who should have multiple mvp's. i don't care if he deserves the hell out of it this year (which i'm not sold on). if hakeem freakin' olajuwon only got 1, steve nash damn sure can't have 2. if shaq only has one, nash damn sure can't have 2. the mvp has been so much about "taking turns" over the years that breaking that tradition for someone like nash would be an insult to everyone who came before. even though i wanted him to beat shaq last year (and probably should have), he was basically the weakest mvp ever, both by his stats from that year, and from a career perspective. it was a super down year for all candidates. to give him another one would be unholy. what i can't figure out is who should win it. duncan is barely over the 20 ppg mark and down around 2 bpg. he is not having close to an mvp year and the fact the spurs can still do so well is a testament to that supporting cast and what a well-oiled machine that team is, not to duncan's greatness (though he is great). plus he already has 2. dirk hasn't had enough pub to get it for some reason, and wade doesn't get enough credit for how good he is. kobe has an outside shot if the lakers do better but probably won't get it. for some reason lebron doesn't seem to get enough serious consideration and i'm not sure if people will actually be able to bring themselves to vote for billups, as he just doesn't seem like a league mvp (though nash one it last year so there is precedence). so if those people don't get it, nash may be all that's left, which would be unfortunate, even though i like nash.
If Dallas, San Antonio, and Detroit all finish with the top records and are withing one or two wins of eachother, than I think Dirk will get it.
