I agree. I just watched the Mavs crush the Hea. They run a smooth free flowing offense. Most great teams do. But set play after set play after set play is outdated and suited for college basketball. I feel its the biggest reason our offensive output is so innconsistent. We have Tracy Mcgrady, Yao Ming, and several talented VETERANS, let them play. They can handle themselves on offense and I bet it would be beautiful to watch.

I wuv my man Jeffy. He is the bestest! Nothing that goes wrong is his fault!
Everything that goes well should be credited to his guidance and wisdom!

Every day I re-affirm Jeff's world map is more important than reality. We are so lucky to have a coach who can't see the big middle finger in front of his face.
The world isn't what it is, it's only what Jeffrey wants it to be :).

Hearts and flowers, Jeffrey. Big hug.

I've always been neutral, but after watching last nights game.....I was screaming at the TV, "Why in the hell are you letting Wesley guard Kobe 1-on-1 in that cricial stretch in the 3rd, and he just left him out to dry basically, on one of the game's greatest scorers this season no less!

    What do I think?

I think JVG is suffocating the offense right out of Yao, T-Mac, and the rest of the team. I think he's too stubborn to adjust to another teams strength and shut them down. When Kobe was hitting shot after shot, he just left Wesley in there and called a timeout after the Lakers increased their lead by 10.

When things gets tough what does he do? Sends in Ryan Bowen. Not Chuck Hayes, but Ryan Bowen, the worst shooter in the NBA.

Defense is good, but when you got a two-time scoring champ, the leagues best center, and one helluva PG, you don't make all these confusing offensive sets. You let the players run the offense.

I've always said that this kind of team needs an offensive oriented coach.

I voted that I dislike JVG.

The jist of it is that he always seems down on his team. He doesn't seem to insprire them to play. I know that the millions that they are making should be inspiration enough, but he needs to rally the troops and fill this team with a sense of urgency. I'm tired of hearing him just slam the team after a loss and talk about how bad they are that its his fault, the guy sounds like he wants to get fired.

I laugh now because Rudy and CD got hammered for some of the personnel moves that they made, while I'm not defending Rudy T or CD, JVG needs to be called out for his bonehead personnel moves. Stromile Swift hasn't even approached the shadow of what we thought he was going to be and this was a guy that JVG wanted bad. Swift looks lost and slow out on the court, the good part is that it wasn't a ridiculous contract that he signed.

Getting Derek Anderson was another mistake. Where has he been at? If he's healthy enough to play why hasn't he been on the court? Why all the secrecy about it and whats with the meeting they are having? Its just ridiculous.

JVG looks and sounds like he's already burned out on the job and from the play of the team they seem uninspired and have no sense of urgency and look like they are playing with no heart. If JVG deserves praise when they win, then he sure as hell deserves some of the blame when they are as bad as their record indicates.

I am very dissappointed at the rox lakers game. first of all .... VAN GUNDY needs to be FIRED!!!! enough of him calling his plays.... he is not a coach... he is the Hitler of basketball!!!!! its either his way or he will take you out of the game!!!
i seriously dont understand how we could not score over 80 points even when we have 2 allstars on our team.
lakers game.... alston had an awesome night, loved his assists.!!!
wesley was hitting his shots in the beginning! i really thought we were going to win when the game started.
stromille swift needs to get his butt whupped by someone.... someone plzz hit him while playing and injure him so he can leave!!! that man dips his fingers in oil before stepping on the court.... he cant catch anything!!! he had 4 passes missed out of his hands because he SUCKS!!! he is hurting us more than helping!!!!
and i am very very very dissapointed at Mcgrady with the lakers game!!!!
he played with no heart at all!!! you could tell he didnt care about the game. NOT once did i see him drive in and draw the foul, NOT ONCE!!!!!
the only time he got close to the rim was when alston was on a fast break and dished tmac that awesome pass that ended in a dunk. THATS IT!!!
he needs to feed of off Kobe.... look what he did!!!! Kobe and Tmac are mostly compared to each other...... but i dont see any comparison this year!!! if tmac knew he was having a bad shooting night... after the 1st quarter... maybe the 2nd... maybe the 3rd.... oh well... atleast by the 4th quarter he should know that he aint feelin it and that he should drive in and draw the foul!!! he is respected by Refs jus as much as Kobe is when drawing a foul!!! THEN WHY DID HE NOT DO THAT???? and if it is because of his back.... then he should just sit out the rest of the season and heal himself for next year!!! because if the rox are trying to make a push.... NOW is the time... not one game or 2 games later!!!! if tmac feels like they can do it, then he needs to stop worrying about his back and drive in and draw the foul!!! he needs to stop being a sissy!!! with his athleticism.... he can do so much, but he didnt with the lakers!!! very dissappointed in him in the lakers game!!!

    lol, beautiful... :)

i don't know if van gundy is the best coach for this team but he was 51-31 last year, which is very good, and 13-6 when yao and t-mac play this year, which is pretty good as well.

those numbers indicate to me that injuries are more likely the reason this season sucks than van gundy. i have no idea why more people can't see that.
i also find it funny how no one who bashes jvg wants to talk about the near offensive powerhouse the rockets were putting together for a good 75% of last season. i thought he had no idea how to coach an offense?

yeah and f@#k jvg for signing swift too considering almost this entire website was ecstatic the day we got him. what an idiot for making that move.

JVG is desperately searching for the likes of Mike James and Bobby Sura... I have the doubt that he's a one dimensional coach who can only succeed with players of pit bull mentality, like Latrel Spreewel in NY.

Hitler and pit bulls, perfect match.

JVG is always complaining that the team does not put out enough effort.

Rudy inspired loyalty and the team always put out effort. He did not have to whine about lack of effort all the time.

I believe that negative reinformement and punishment has been proven to not be as effective as positive reinforment.

jvg is hypercritical, he's going to complain about effort when another coach might overlook it. rudy wouldn't whine about lack of effort even if he thought it was there cause that's not his personality. rudy's teams didn't put put any more effort than these guys.

i actually think one of jvg's better qualities is having his team prepared and them responding with strong effort even if it's not up to HIS standard.

Frankly speaking , Van gandy is a good coach, but he did not fit Rockets. Also I want to say to him: do not always blame your player and find your own problems, sometime encouragment is better than blame

Frankly speaking, I can't remember JVG blame any specific player publicly and there are countless times he blames himself about not prepare the team better.

I strongly feel the above quoted view is more of a public myth than the truth.

It self depreciation crap gets old
He knows exactly what he is doing
it is indirect blaming the players
"Swift is not getting it . . I just need to try harder to reach him
I'm just not getting it done. . it is my fault. . i need to work harder"

I mean If you wanna say swift is an idiot then say it
    stop this double talk crap

OOOO the lack of energy is disappointing. . I need to
really work harder. . it is my fault .

You still calling out the players. . just in a deceptive backhand [underhanded]
    weaselly kind of way

What bothered me . . is that after half time. .
alot of time our players come out looking like beaten dogs
rather than some team chomping at the bit ready to go back to war

    I disagree strongly with this.
    That sounds like a lie.
Lastly, this is the last quote I disagree with. Thank you, Lothar Matthaus...
That's just nonsense, right there.

It's not his fault that he hasn't played with a full team with his squad. It is his fault for choosing veterans who are on the edge of breaking down or have broken down before.

His grinding style requires patience and execution but without atheleticsm the players won't last beyond the regular season. It's Jeffs fault that he'll take old players over young because he lacks the patience to let the young players fail on the court and guide them when they're off it.

The year he made it to the finals was his most relaxed year because PEw wasn't there to slow down the tempo and grind his other players down.

I don't think he meshes with Yao either.
