After the unadulterated crap Stern thrust upon JVG in last year's playoffs (and the focus on refs since Sunday), the only move David Stern can make is to SUSPEND PHIL JACKSON. The commish threatened to ban JVG from the Association, so how can PJax' comments last night NOT land the Zen in suspended inanimation.

I found these quotes in an ESPN article.....

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=260207006

Even when a foul was called on DeSagana Diop guarding him, Bryant got a technical for something he said to the official. Bryant then made his two free throws, the first of eight points he scored in a three-minute stretch to get the Lakers within 56-53.

Pressed about the officiating after the game, Bryant was careful with his words, saying "Easy on my piggy bank."

The frustrated Lakers were called for four technical fouls, including a delay of game when coach Phil Jackson purposely kept them in the huddle after a timeout. There were also two flagrant fouls.

"It was a poorly refereed game," Jackson said.

A non-superstar would've been ejected last night if they had acted the way Kobe did after his technical. He was fouled on the other end, received the technical, then continued to jaw at the officals during his free throw attempts. Had his name been Smush Parker (who had to get in front of Kobe between free throws), he would've been T'd up again.

i wonder if that game will make them mad enough to take it out on us, or if it will bother them enough to play a bad game against us.

I'm paraphrasing, but Phil said the refs are pressured to give the Mavs more benefit of the calls because of Mark Cuban and his antics (ie: sending in a tape of the refs after every game, etc.).

If that what he said after the game, then he'll probably be getting a fine pretty soon

If the fine is less than 100G and/or a suspension then what was the JVG flap all about, Mr Commish???

I thought we'd already been over this.

The JVG stuff was because he hinted that there was a conspiracy among the referees concerning the way that Yao was officiated. Bringing to light a conspiracy to referee unjustly is a lot more damaging to the league than simple bad refereeing.

    It's a completely different story.

But Jackson did criticize the refereeing, and he will be fined. So be happy.

Yes, JVG screamed 'conspiracy'. But, the refs being intimidated by Cubes and being awful and have to do a better job is not worthy of the same attention JVG received?

Well, it's slightly different, since VanGundy insinuated that he knew a ref who gave him insider info, but I agree that it's a double-standard. But then again, when has punishment in the NBA been fair?
