Wednesday against the Lakers and Saturday against the Jazz. They are currently #8 and #9 on the standings and we get to play them at home. If we beat both of these teams, not only our record goes up, we also set our direct competitions back, and gain tie-breaker advantages. We will be somewhere between 3 to 4 games out of the 8th spot, which puts us in a much better position to leap over all of them and gets to the playoffs.

We must must must, I mean must, win these two games against our direct competitions. If we don't, our playoff chance will become very dim. These two games are make or break for our season, guys.

Basically rox have to treat every game with a "must-win" attitude from this point on because they dug too deep a hole with the early season injury. But you are right, technically a win over your major opponent is sort of a double.

I totally agreed. Beating these teams not only make me happy because I hated Lakers and Mavs with a fire, but one win is like we go 2 games up.

I am kinda hoping they do... and then lose in quadruple overtime... a rested rox team would make quick work of them...

Let's W them both...and 'only' need a (minimum) record of 21-11 after Utah to (maybe) make the spring tourney. Up-up-up-hill, and a half. Dadgum nice if it's a hill they crest, and tourney they crash.

So, when the Good Guys do the improbable, the near impossible, whom do you want waiting for TMac and Yao and friends, Mavs or Spurs? Or Suns?

Every game is a must win for the Rox, not just these two.

Mavs beat the Lakers tonight so thats another full game Houston picks up on them. If we win tomorrow vs the Lakers thats another full game pickup. Houston then needs to finish it off with big wins over the jazz and knicks. PLayoffs are there just reachout and take them. Go Rockets!!!

If the Steelers can do the improbable, why not the Rockets? Maybe JVG should start preaching about Columbus voyage story as well. This is the year of improbable!

i guess you could compare it to game 4 of a playoff series where the Rockets are down 1-2. it becomes either 2-2 or 1-3. that game 4 is just about must win; just like these next two. and every other game with the playoff fringe teams. of course if the Rockets win the next 9 games, then the urgency although still there is greatly reduced.

It's been very unfortunate that most of the teams above us that are fighting for a playoff spot are winning. Utah, Golden State, Minnesota, Sacramento.... I was really hoping they'd lose some games as we hit our winning streak. Bummer.

Critical the rest of the way-
I believe the 8th seed will take a minimum of 43 wins

    So Rockets must finish 24-10

If TMac and Yao have monster finishes with the bench on a roll, including some contribution from Barry, Anderson and possibly Sura- then we could hit the playoffs if momentum and be a very tough first round match.

We need some CHEMISTRY right now in a big way- every win is critical- they can't lose more than one game in a row. Must win at least 3-4 in a row before a loss and can't blow dumb losses to lower teams. Need a big win against a SA or Dallas to boot.

    Go Rockets.
