Matchups. Memphis gave us lots of problems during past three years. Spurs swept them. But we play not too bad against the Spurs.

No kidding. I expect this kind of behavior in the D&D as the topics are so polarizing, but in the GARM?!?!?

    chinesetaco:
Ignore the flamers, they aren't worth the finger strain it takes to type a response. And yes, the Rox would have won both years. We had the Bulls number in the '90s as they never had anyone who could remotely stay up with Hakeem. Pippen's defense never had a chance to shine because our best player was in the paint instead of the perimeter and Maxwell, while being an absolute loon, defensed Jordan better than just about anyone else in the league.

Why are you guys being so hard on the thread starter for asking an honest question with no negative or malicious intent toward anyone? Thats just dumb expecting him to get banned just for asking a question thats been beaten to death.

Is it b/c the topic is too sensitive for you hardcore Rockets fan to answer or are you just sick of the same question? If you're sick of it, why did you even click on the thread with wortless response other then to bash the poster? We get repeated "same topic" threads all the time which is nothing new, yet you guys hate someone for posting about this Jordan/Rockets topic when ever it comes up which is rare from my own experience.

What if someone had just turn into a die hard Rockets fan for whatever reason, and he/she decided to come in here to ask the same question from the perspective of those who lived the moment back in the championship days to gain some knowledge, then what better person to ask then some of the more knowledgeable person on this board? So you guys are gonna hate on this person too? Please, just grow up and if you don't like the topic then don't click on one and move on and it will die quickly. Remember guys, there's nothing wrong with people asking for an opinion even though the topic had been repeated many times but I think its ok since the poster clearly stated he did not follow the Rockets back then.

I used to love this site but now the topics are so boring and redundant, like this one.

I love this board and still do, but I'm smart enough to IGNORE those topic that I find redundant. There're millions of poster on this board with new members coming in all the time, of course your're gonna expect some repeated stuff here and there. With your 50 post in 3 years, why are you even complaining?

as much as i love mad max, no one guarded jordan better than joe dumars....and i know said JUST about anyone, but honestly, jordan still puts up 27-30 against mad max, maybe he takes a few more shots to get it but he still does his thing. dumars was the best at guarding mike, hands down.

and to chinesetaco, it may not seem fair that people are riding you about this, but this has been discussed about ONE MILLION TIMES. but to give you a response, i say that houston still wins, the teams they had built around hakeem were perfect. no one could guard hakeem ANYWHERE in the leauge especially on the bulls. the dream dismantled teams with not only his scoring but his passing, especially when they put those sharpshooters around him like they had those two seasons. houston still gets their rings.

i have argued multiple times with many different people about this question. it would have been a great war! i think that Jordan is a champion, and would win at any cost, but those two Rockets squads had the best team chemistry ever! Especially when they skunked the spurs and magic the second year, they were meshing sooo well!

I guess we'll never know, so hypothetically, its gotta be a split!

Jordan won a title when Bird and Magic were in their primes? The Pistons run (repaet) put an end to the eras for the Celtics and Lakers.

    Do better Mike....

it's hard to beat mike twice in a row... but those rockets weren't to be denied... i say it would have been a split...maybe not the first year.... if we went down 3-2 to the bulls instead of the knicks, i think they would have closed us out...

then again i think if we didn't have 2 trophies by then, I think we would have risen to the occasion in '97 and taken it to 'em for a second one then...

either way i think we'd be sitting here with two trophies

I don't understand it either. The thread starter admitted he's a new fan to the Rockets and not familiar with the team history. So he asked a question here without making any judgement. Does hammering the newbies make you feel better about yourself?

just about everyone on page 1 is an idiot. ask a question and say "i didn't follow the team back then" and get responses saying "why are you asking that? how long have you been a rockets fan?"

Geniuses on this board, I tell you.

To answer the question, I think we would have gone 7 games year 1 if the Knicks took us to 7. And personally I think we would have lost in 7 if the Bulls team was the same but improved from the team that beat Phoenix. But who knows?

I think we would have taken them down in year 2.

I'm as diehard as they come, but I can still be objective about anything

this sounds like a lame response, "kind of like the rude people on this board" but i think its a tossup either way. i think it would have been very close, and i think if you would have them play 10 series for each year the rockets would win about 6 or 7 of them.

Bird was done by then, but Magic's lakers still get in the finals (the 1st Pistons' champion and the 1st Bulls' champion), so I would say Magic is still in his prime. Magic could have played a few more good years if not for the AIDS.

Before you guys judge other posters, maybe you should look at the first page more carefully, to see the response from the TS. I don't think that attitude is really necessary. Right after that, race card is pulled. Before you call others idiots, check the facts first.

If a tree falls in a forest, and there is nobody to hear it, does it make a sound?

    LOL
