What is JVG's rationale in keeping Barry inactive?

Now that Barry has been cleared to play, JVG has elected to keep him inactivated despite our poor 3 point shooting as a team. His reasoning is that he wants to keep an extra big man activated. What is the point in that when hayes and baxter receive no playing time. We have 4 active power forwards, plus Deke! It's this kind of crap that makes me question the wisdom of JVG.

You don't change things up when the team is on a roll. As soon as the Rox lose a game, you will see JB back on the court. The question is, who gets the boot, Lonnie Baxter, Moochie Norris, or Chuck Hayes?

Uhm.....he is old and there is no sense in rushing him back with the All Star break only a week away.

Good point, and he came back too early last time, which probably set him back even more.

IMHO JVG has no wisdom. He is an X's and O's coach. And is probably one of the better defensive coaches in the league. But he is a lousy motivator with little or no motivational skills and no insight into coaching NBA players.

We've known your opinion since last year, even though it seems to change everytime the Rockets are winning. What does his 'motivation skills' have to do with keeping Barry inactive?

And Maurice Taylor is a lousy rebounder.

If you are going to senselessy bash JVG, at least try to stay on topic. Your random blurt of blind JVG hatred is irrelevant.

Ah, these kind of silly threads don't stop even when we're winning, typical....

I would whole heartedly disagree. He motivated SF3 to the playoffs for the first time in his career, to bad he is a loser. He has Swift playing quite well
now. All the quality players on our team express their devotion to him publicly and play hard for him. He just doesn't bring his stuff to the press for obvious reasons (there a bunch of drama queens who love to gossip).

Not that any of this has anything to do with Barry coming back...

Keep stuff like this in the "Fire Gundy" thread where the band wagon fans hang out......LOL

I would like to see JB replacing either one of these on the active list: Baxter, Moochie, or Bowen. JVG is in love with Bowen, so Baxter or Moochie. I would guess Baxter because Hayes can do everything Baxter does. Moochie has been fairly solid lately.

I know that everyone here loves Luther Head, but he's in a deep shooting funk. I'd like to see Baxter deactivated and see if Barry can take some of Luther's minutes. The offense really seems to click when Barry's out there.

Luther really has hit the proverbial rookie wall. I think it is a combination of physical and mental fatigue. Physical is obvious, given the longer season and grind. Mentally, I think he just isn't as used to playing in a back-up roll and as such it takes him time to adjust to that. When T-Mac/Yao were out and he was counted on more to score, he had that agressive attitude. He seems a little more tentative these days.

On the positive side, he did have 5 assists and no turnovers last night.

I agree with not rushing Barry, but also see no point, if he is cleared to play, to not dress him and put him in for a few minutes at crunch time, or at the end of quarters to stand at the 3 point line and wait for an open shot.

Ya know what makes this loss even more frustrating? Portland, GS, Clips, Sonics, Wolves, and Memphis lost tonight. Add what should have been a loss to the Lakers and we could've gained even more ground
