I haven't given up on Stro. The only thing I question is his BB iq.

iq in sports is a misnomer. decision making is all about instinct and self-confidence.

Even Dan Lange beat him out for SEC player of the year.

Isn't that the definition of basketball IQ?

Big fan. Maybe it's because I detest Juwan Howard and so badly want to see anyone replace him in starting lineup, but that's how I feel ... I won't give up on him just yet.

I'm still a Swift fan and I don't have that much of a problem with him since he was a project when brought in. He brought athleticism, and well.....that was pretty much it. I'd love to see him step it up, he's had 1 really fantastic game this season. I'd love to see more like that. Since he is a Rocket and wasn't offered a HUGE and handcuffed salary (meaning we'd be stuck paying him a large amount and untradable) I will root for him.

I'm looking forward to his next NASTY dunk.

I'm a Swift fan. I don't sell out on ANYBODY on the Rockets, especially in his first season before the All-Star break.

The real question is can you really see him playing an intrigal part on a championship caliber team?

My girlfriend must go crazy sometimes bc I get so riled up watching Rockets games how lazy and stupid Swift is. For every one great dunk he has he'll get called twice for travelling on his excellent post spin move. The guy is not a winner. If we keep him he'll just become bigger mistake and a bad vibe on the team.

Trade him for anything. I'd be happy getting a 1st rounder for him. Any depth issues we have for next season can be adressed easilly through two 1st rounders. I'm more than willing to stick with Howard, Hayes and Baxter for this season.

I can.. You can't.. Time will tell. Calling a player stupid and lazy is beyond classless and ignorant. You don't practice with him. You don't know him personally. If you've watched any of the games this year you wouldn't come to this assertion anyway. The dude can play.

Ok, for all you fans and haters out there...I got a question.

Last year when we played Dallas in the first round, as you know we were w/o JHoward, now...Do you think if we had Swift we could of pulled off a first round upset? If you agree that we could of beat Dallas w/Swift then - him being and staying on this team now is a good idea.

Please someone tell me how I'm wrong.

Hes a better rebounder than Yao(9 boards a game) and Juwan. Per minute hes just as good at rebounding. I disagree in that he is a bad man to man defender. I think he has done a good job on D vs KG, and others when he gets a chance.

I have to agree with you there. Although I have been underwhelmed by Stro's performance and totally frustrated by him taking the simple plays and trying to turn them into replay specials, I did think he did a good job with the man to man post up D on Garnett the other night. At least he wasn't weak there.

But....................................Chuck Hayes did pretty well himself against Garnett and was even more impressive to me, in light of the fact that he gives up half a foot to him.

But.................both Stro and Chuckie, in my opinion, are better guarding the more mobile, athletic PFs in this league than Juwon. As much as Juwon has given us this year, he is flat flooted, non-athletic, and slow to rotate, etc. The combination of Juwon and Yao in my opinion does not work defensively because both are slow footed. I think Juwon is actually the slowest footed player on our team defensively. Baxter, Deke, Yao.....they're all quicker defensively than Juwon.

I guess what I'm saying is Juwon's not the answer, but Stro has played so horribly most of the time that Juwon has been a breath of fresh air in comparison. Frankly, I'd like to see Hayes get the minutes with Yao and let Stro and Juwon work together on the second unit with Deke picking up minutes against opposing oversized bigs.

I didn`t say I "blame" JVG, nor did I say Swift has no foilibles. I am pointing out what is a fact that you dismiss. JVG`s weaknesses as a coach are in that essential area of effectively and positively motivating and molding his players. His up-tight demeanor, his snide cynicisim, his public criticism, his ridiculous frowning... Its true that anybody in Major League Sports with the money they make and the priveleges they have shouldn`t have issues, but why don`t you come out of yor own bubble and recognize that they do and that is why great coaches are so sought after and sorely needed. Swift has immense talent and JVG immensely lacks the kind of coaching talent to mold him and mold this team. Anyone with a thimble of basketball sense can see that. If you want to roll your eyes, roll your eyes over our win-loss record, and the number of games we have played, injuries or not, and lost because we have had no fire, no chemistry, no motivation. I think the reason you defend JVG is because you are just like him

Yeah... let's get excited for those Sportscenter's one or two highlight dunks and forget defense and championship.

I think we expected too much from him anyway! He never really has shown any Amare Stoudemire effort, so why are we beating him up.

But on the other hand, he has been exposed by the recent play of Chuck Hayes.

Uh, so according to you most of this board is classless and ignorant? When we first signed him, most people here were ragging on him for how "slow" he seemed in all his interviews.

But being unintelligent alone is not bad enough to make me trash him, but he has done nothing with his playing time to prove otherwise. i "came to this assertion" BECAUSE I've watched him play. I'm not just pulling this out of my ass. Get real. How many games has he posted no rebounds? That's pathetic.

JVG benched his ass because either A) his work ethic sucks OR B) he just sucks as a player.

Please choose one or provide a better alternative. I beg you. You're painting him as this passionate player and anyone who's watched him play would say otherwise, hence the NUMEROUS THREADS!

Oh, and I hope you're right and he can play and contribute on a contender. I'm a Rockets fan 1st. Any sports fan knows the importance of being able to swallow your pride. Too bad more sportswriters don't agree!

He should be given a chance to redeem himself. If he doesn't do well he should be traded in the offseason.
