In the alternate universe, Jeff Van Gundy stayed as a Tnt Analyst hanging with Doug Collins and Marv Albert.
As master of this alternate universe, who would you want as the Rockets coach with this team and this roster?

As much as it pains me to say it, probably Phil Jackson. The guy's a winner.

After that would be Flip and then Larry Brown.

As an avid clutchfan, I read most of the post here..
people are complaining about attendance , the toyota center blah blah blah
I say what is missing this year, even though we suck, there's some lack of intimacy between this team and others of yester year...
its a sense of tradition and loyalty.. all this went to the dumpster when Les bought the team. he change the uniforms, let rudy t go, let dream get traded, got rid of turbo, got rid of calvin..

    Think about the 1993-94 team.
that team really started in 89-90, we built that team slowly. it wasn't a quick fix like every year so far. it wasnt about bringing in big name people. it was built on having 1 coach, great chemistry, bringing in and developing talent. why were we so happy when they won? who do you remember being so happy? Calvin Murphy, Bill Worrell, Gene Peterson, Jim foley, Rudy T, Dream.. There was history, tradition and loyalty..

I've been thinking about this, not because I'm a JVG hatah but because Dantoni and PJax are the best current NBA coaches.

They both elevate their players performance level and thus, team wins. MD does it as the doctor of fun basketball! He got my vote.

I thought this thread was supposed to be about THIS team.

Rest assured that no matter what, tinman will forever live and harp on the past. At least you don't post in the hangout much. So we don't have to put up with pictures of Horry, MadMax, and Carl Herrera in the "Hot Babes" threads.

its about history. its about legacy, we look to the past to find the future.

example: robert horry: reminds us that the past champion is still a champion
    [IMG]

vernon: passion is part of the game
    [IMG]

herrera: players from latin america can make a difference

The Rockets need a Head Coach that can COACH, this rules out Rudy and Phil. Larry can't coach Rookies and is short on patience, so no Larry.Flip inherited a Championship team, which didnt need coaching just motorvating, so no Flip . The only Coach that took a depleated team and got it playing at a high level by coaching it is. Antoni Y

i hear you. i cant believe they are winning with boris diaw, kurt thomas, and raja bell. it just proves that nash is mvp. marion, if he were with the rockets would turn into the bill of bill and ted instead of the matrix. ie... he'd turn into stromile swift

i have to give flip credit, it seems the pistons are playing better on the offensive front.

Bizarro Jeff van Gundy, who stresses offense over everything.

    Or maybe Spock's beard.
