I heard on ESPNEWS that Lebron announced he will not enter the dunk contest. The only 2 players I know for sure will enter are Josh Smith and Nate Robinson.

The dunk contest is a joke now. There are players in it that aren't even cracking their teams' starting rosters. The only reason I'll be watching it this year is to watch lil man Nate Robinson win it. I have no doubt he'll have a dunk or two that will have me falling out of my chair.

Little Nate Robinson is going to be in it? Guess they want a little guy to hype up the crowd and bring something new....ala Spud Webb...definently want to see what this guy can do.

if the thinks he's going to win it with a tomahawk then he's sorely mistaken

What he has to lose? If he loses the contest to Nate Robinson, who's a foot shorter than he is, he's gonna lose alot of shoe sales.

reinstate the birdman for one night. If the NBA can't get any high profile names for the dunk contest, at least we can laugh at somebody...

LeBron isnt a contest dunker, he doesnt have that kind of grace that VC, Jordan, Dominique, JRich, etc, has. He is a very high jumper that can throw the ball in the hole, but thats it. MidAir acrobatics aint his thing.

I honestly think the reason he refuses to enter the current and past slam dunk contest is because he knows he won't win..what a sore loser, it's about entertaining the fans...and all the fans want to see him!

LeBron has NOTHING to gain and everything to lose by entering. None of the already made "stars" want to lose this thing.

Right now 3 of the 4 confirmed people in the contest
    Josh Smith (defending champ)
    Nate Robinson
    Andre Iggy

Add Hakim Warrick to it as well.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2313651

NEW YORK -- Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith could become the third player to win consecutive NBA slam dunk contests when he participates in the event during All-Star weekend.

    Josh Smith
    Smith

Michael Jordan won back-to-back competitions in 1987-88 and Jason Richardson did it in 2002-03.

Joining Smith in contest this year will be Andre Iguodala of the Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks 5-foot-9 guard Nate Robinson and Hakim Warrick of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Judges for the event, scheduled for Feb. 18 in Houston, all have ties to the Houston Rockets. Clyde Drexler, Moses Malone, Elvin Hayes and Kenny Smith were all stars for the team and former coach Rudy Tomjanovich led the Rockets to two NBA titles.

The winner will receive $35,000, the runner-up gets $22,500 and the third and fourth finishers get $16,125 each.

...and that's why Lebron has no reason to participate. Up the ante to half a mil and he'd reconsider.

people wont buy his shoes if he loses to nate robinson? i highly doubt that. if he lost, im sure nike would just drop him and give the contract to robinson and call the new shoe the air-midget. please. did dominique wilkins become a loser when he lost to spud webb? no. whatever reason lebron has for not participating, its stupid. people wanna see lebron whether he wins or loses.
