Tangled up in Blue is my all time fave, but one measure of a great song is how well it stands up to other interpretations. by that standard, Don't Think Twice and You Ain't going Nowhere are two of my all time faves. Also love "Visions of Johanna" from Blonde on Blonde.

Girl from the North Country (with Johnny Cash) Desolatin Row Like Rolling Stone Don't think Twice When the Ship Comes In Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll
I just heard Highway 61 on my way home from work today, and it's my favorite for two reasons. 1) I've only listened to three Bob Dylan songs ever, and it's the only one I know the title to 2) It has a kazoo in it
Oh where to begin? So many great songs, so many great lines. Off the top of my head and in no particular order. Everything is broken Pledging my Time Baby let me follow you down In My Time of Dying (cover) Who Killed Davy Moore? He was a friend of mine (not an original) A Hard Rain's a gonna fall
I went ahead and bought that last night as it has "Blind Willie McTell" which was the song I couldn't remember the name to. From what I read, this whole box set is worth it just for that song alone!
do you know the version w/ Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman from "Will the Circle be Unbroken, Vol. 2?" no surprise, it sounds a lot like the Byrds version, but i actually like it better, and it's better recorded.
I need to try to get into Dylan. Never really listened to him all that much. Tangled Up in Blue would probably be my favorite from what I've heard.
I would recommend these 3 albums to someone new to Dylan in "Blonde on Blonde", "Highway 61 Revisited", and "Blood on the Tracks". If you like these albums, you will probably like pretty much anything he did, IMO. I think the hardest thing about Dylan for most people is his voice - they can't get past the fact that he doesn't have the most soothing singing voice ever. I like him because of the way he phrases his words and I find his instrumentation (if that makes sense) always to be very interesting (Case in point, on the "Infidels" album he had the uber reggae duo of Sly and Robbie on bass and drums along with Mark Knopfler, Mick Taylor, and the keyboardist from Dire Straits as his other musicians).
Thanks Manny. Reminds me of my favorite movie where Barry's chastising the customer for not owning "Blonde on Blonde". I may have to pick that up today when going to get Orange is In. There better be a little joke about me in the liner notes. OK, I gotta get off this High Fidelity kick.
Okay, I got my copy of The Bootleg Series, Volumes 1-3 and I am finishing up listening to the 3rd CD. The 1st CD was alright but will probably take some growing on me as it is mainly acoustic (except for the spoken word poem at the end). The 2nd CD was very good, especially the alternate version of "If Not For You" with George Harrison on guitar. But it is the 3rd CD that I was looking forward to the most and it did not disappoint. "Blind Willie McTell" was wow. That one song really made it worth to buy the whole thing.
song for woody new morning dont think twice... girl from north country(Nashville skyline version with J.C) talkin new york who killed davey moore i dont believe you(she acts like we never have met) with god on our side lonesome death of hattie carroll
No, I'll have to check that out. I have heard the Byrds version though. I really like the looseness and "off the cuff" feel of the Dylan and the Band version. It sounds kinda half-assed, but it works.
