I still think they need to put mic's all over the court so you can hear all the trash talk that goes on. Maybe I'm the only one, but I would pay to have a channel that had broadcasts that let you hear the R-rated stuff.

    Example:

Rockets down 2 with 2.3 seconds to go and Tracy sticks a 3 right in Kobe's face...

"How you like that **** right there? Game over b*tch." - TMac

Who wouldn't get hyped after that comment? :D

Screw that, I would pay serious money if they had a mic on JVG all game long and didn't bleep out any of the R-rated stuff (which is pretty much 90% of what he says).

THAT my friend would be great entertainment and worth watching, especially if the Rockets are losing, just imagine that! :D

Smart move by the league. People are always complaining because half the time on NBA TV you get the opponent's announcers. Invariably people come away with a bad taste in their mouth because you just can't call an even game when you're covering your own team.

This could be the end of the "Did you hear the Mavs announcers call Yao soft?" threads.

    Cool idea!

We sat a row back of the Rockets bench a few years ago when Francis was still here, listen to JVG was almost more enjoyable than the game....I don't know if an R rating would cover it... ;)

The bad news is that NBA-TV is replacing the announcers with even more of their fabulous sound effects.

While the game timer is counting down, the "60 Minutes" stopwatch will be audible in the background.

In addition, each dribble will be accompanied by a boing sound effect. When the ball hits the rim hard, a loud explosion effect will sound. Also, each foul will be accentuated by the Dragnet theme, and each stoppage in play will be highlighted by a jack-in-the-box playing "pop goes the weasel".

That's funny. At least I hope you're joking.

From what I understand, they'll plug into the public address announcer as well. So it sort of a, "sounds of the game" type telecast.

I think I'd rather hear opposing announcers than the music they play at Rocket games during play. OH GOD that tightens my jaws!

If I'm not mistaken, the Orlando PA announcer is one of the worst in the league. Maybe I'll just go with the 'mute' botton that night...
