The Rockets are now 15-26 and are playing Minnesota friday which are one of the teams we have to pass to get to Utah and the Hornets. That being said the Rockets are only 4 games back of the Hornets and only 5 games back of the Jazz so the playoffs are right thier within site for the Rockets. By the way both Utah and New Orleans lost tonight so Houston picked up a full game on both. Also start cheering Dallas on so they can get the #1 seed cause I want a rematch with them in the playoffs plus I REALLY DON'T WANT TO PLAY THE SPURS. Go Rockets!!!
What was the run the Rockets finished the season at last year? I heard it on the radio, whatever it is if the Rockets duplicate that same run, which isn't all that great, they will finish with 44 wins. That should be enough to get into the playoffs, I don't think they fear the Spurs or Mavericks, bring them on.
After the Rockets record stood at 9-11 last season they went on in thier final 62 games to a record of 42-20. We don't have that many games to turn it around this season but we still have alot of games left so plenty to pass up the Hornets and Jazz. WE have 41 games left in the season and I believe we can win over 70% of them. Go Rockets!!!
We started 14-16, then finished 37-15. 37-15 and frankly, when healthy, I think this year's team is better than last years. Of course, we haven't been healthy all year, but I feel another run starting. Sounds silly for the worst team in the WC to talk about playoffs, but this season is different. I think it's going to take about a .500 record to make the 8th seed. That's really not asking too much if we get and stay healthy.
5 games back as of tonight. by the trade deadline i expect it to be closer to 3 games back. we could just ride out the season and probably take the 8th seed. my only worry is that with ron on the kings they will make the same run we will make and just shut us out for #8. i tihnk we will need a deadline trade to seal the deal like last year's pick-up of mike james. with hayes and baxter playing awesome, stro is suddenly expendable for the right price. wesley, moochie, and DA are all ending contracts who can be traded as well. i would target athletic swingmen and PG's, all of whom should be able to shoot and score. watson, posey, claxton, radmanovic, and erick williams would be my targets. once everyone is back we should pull off a deal to solidify the roster and make out push. we will make the playoffs after all.
wesley is a keeper especially if he re-signs for the min next season. da has a player's option to keep him around for another year. posey did a runner the last time he was a rocket and it wasn't that long ago.
Playoffs definitley within our sight. But they are also in Sacramento's vision with the new pick up of Artest. And what hurts is we have already lost two games to both the Jazz/Hornets (which could bite when it comes to tie-breakers). We have to win games the rest of the way versus the people ahead of us (like Minn on Friday)
Stromile has been out for two weeks with "conjunctivitis." Now, I have defended this recently---maybe people are slamming the guy for being unable to play thanks to pink eye, "pink" not sounding too butch---but now I have to wonder how badly we need him. Hell, Marc Jackson still hasn't been playing and the Nets offered him and one of their 1st rounders this year for him. We declined; maybe something like that is still on the table? Certainly Baxter and Hayes have displaced Stromile and we might put that second 1st round pick to good use (we did land Luther with #24).
if we go 26-15, we will be .500 i think we can do it. forget bout what ur record is now and try to go 26-15 the rest of the season. but to guarantee a 8th spot, i think we should be a couple of games over .500. so 29-12 should get us .537. thats currently the 7th spot's record. i should also mention if we go 24-17, we will not make it to the playoffs. a. 17 more loses and we are done b. 15 loses means .500 c. 12 loses means playoffs here we come.
Suddenly the 45% who voted that we should tank are starting to creep back in and realize it's an 82 game season, and the West ain't what it used to be.
i've been adamant all season that if we can just get most of our guys healthy, we have a good a shot as anybody not named Detroit and san antonio..... and i still believe that. it'll take a minor miracle of sorts, but i think we'll be there in the end. and once the playoffs start.... it's on!
