isnt this because he has a 10 day contract and he came from the NBDL?
he's not making nba money so he's working every game like its his last. stromile has plenty of $$ so he can take some nights off and not worry about his check.

I'll take Stro for the excitement of a couple of dunks. The rockets arent making the playoffs anyways.

    Zero = nothing
What is nothing? Air. You can't see it or touch it.
    Air... Jordan.

Welcome to Houston MJ, looks like your legend is gonna have an epilogue set in Houston.

    :D

No, it's not a bash Steve post. But, for the record, I don't care about Steve one way or the other - thanks for the years - see ya later. The fact is we saw Steve start to top off his last year here. Steve will never put up numbers like he did again because he hasn't grown or been willing to grow or learn. Playing basketball in the summer does not a 'smart' player make.

Steve is an above average basketball player and it most likely has topped out for him. That's not a bash Steve - that's a fact. Stromile is as athletic as any player in the but he is NOT a smart player. He is NOT as smart as Hayes is right now and ANYONE with a BBall IQ can see that....eeeeeasily! That's doesn't bash Stro - that's a fact. I like Stromile - I really do and if he can just play with

    ENERGY
    ENERGY
    ENERGY
    ENERGY
    ENERGY
    ENERGY
    ENERGY
    ENERGY
    ENERGY

then I'm cool with it...but as of now, he does not. That's not a bash of Stromile - it's a fact. As for Steve, who cares? He's not a Rocket - he's the enemy. Thanks for the good times - kiss Cuttino and call it a night! :)

I think this intelligence is over rated for a basketball player and its not Stro's problem, I heard the guy speak briefly and he didn't sound like a moron so to me it boils down to physical ability, poor reflexes and low pain threshold resulting in fear of physical play.

    Check this; Everything Stro lacks:

"The ball doesn't fumble out of his hands," Van Gundy said. "It's not going to be popped away. Contact is not going to make him stumble and drop it.

"He's rebounded on every level he's played. To come from the NBDL to a rotation and help you win is quite a compliment to his intensity, attention to detail and his basketball IQ."

(clearing throat) meanwhile, there is a certain player on the roster who always seems to fumble the post-entry pass, or have the ball slip out of his hand once defended, and ------- HECK! IM JUST GOING TO GO OUT AND SAY IT! SWIFT TURNS THE BALL OVER ONCE EVERY FOUR TOUCHES!!! AND IF ITS NOT A TURNOVER, ITS A LOOSE BALL THAT OUR TEAM HAS TO SCRAMBLE TO PICK UP. AND ITS NOT BECAUSE THE DEFENSE IS FORCING IT, ITS BECAUSE HE HAS HORRIBLE HANDS!!!

I know alot of people are gonna disagree with this, but I don't think Swift has gotten enough of a chance. Early on he wasn't getting many minutes. Then he does start to have some solid games, now it appears he's in JVG's doghouse. I hate the way this team is run.

that's an interesting spin on it..... i haven't been able to watch hardly any games this season (especially since i'm back in austin), but i agree with you. if hayes has been playing as well as he has been, let swift make up some of the minutes chuckie would be taking by spelling mutombo at the 5.

i still think we have the depth (when healthy) to throw several decent good rotations/lineups at opposing teams.

I think the inside defense is going to be seriously dominant once Yao returns. We will force a lot of teams into relying on the perimeter game because they won't be able to score inside. Yao, Deke, Hayes and Baxter could easily be one of the most effective defensive front courts in the NBA today.

I like the way JVG used Hayes and Baxter in the last two games to lock down the lane - each time he did that, the team was held to a near historical low in points scored in the quarter (9 for the Bucks in the 4th!). That combined with T-Mac is a deadly blow to any team and could lead to a lot of unexpected blowouts.
