If you were watching the game, you might have caught it, here is what I got (please feel free guys to add other players to the list because I will probably forget someone here): 1) Yao Ming - target date for his return is Feb 1 (1 week from now). 2) J Barry - Still 7-10 days 3) Sura - Doing well with his rehab, likely back following the ASG (late Feb/early March) 4) Swift - will be examined on Friday morning and likely will play next game against Minny 5) DA - Still a minimum of a week away, likely more 6) Bowen - good chance he is cleared to play in the next game or two.
so with the exception of sura, we can expect to see everyone else back within the next week, two max. i hope it doesn't take too long for everyone to gel. we have no more time to waste.
Yeah, I caught that update too... DVR let me go back and take notes (you got most of this)... Yao: started practice, doing well, they're developing a protective device for his toe, target to return Feb 1 DA: started doing some "stuff" on the court, day by day, at least a week more, hopefully soon after that Swift: practiced yesterday and today, seeing doc Friday morning, hopefully play Friday night Bowen: saw doc yesterday, little work today, Friday possible, Sunday more likely Barry: MRI yesterday to make sure they're not missing something, good workouts, week to 10 days Sura: doing great with back program, started on knee, probably sometime after All Star break, after March 1 (to return) Damn, is this team cursed or what. Looks like we should get everyone back by March at least, but... will that be too late?
Re - developing a rotation should be a challenge and a half. After tonite's W Rox still need a 30-11 finish, thirty and eleven. Which means if Rox make the p/o they'll be the H - O - T team for SAS or Mavs to contend with. That is if they finish 30-11, of course.
Getting Yao back is the the key to making our run. It would be nice to have those other guys but they don't matter. Yao and Sura are the keys to making our run at the playoffs. Barry to if he hits his 3 ball. Go Rockets!!!
we really need yao for the heat game we cant lose any games right now im watching the minnesota game and we should trounce them man they are horrible mike miller was caught on mic saying to the refs how minnesota "dont play no defense" and they sure arent. Mcgrady needs to be on fire to dismantle the heat.
I agree, they have to be a 75% team from now on to make the playoffs. That's VERY tough. JVG for COY if he makes this happen.
That would mean we would have to win 3 out of every 4 games we play for the rest of the season. Let's see, what's our record in the last 4 games? Right on track!
That's amazing news. Now would it be too much to ask for them (especially McGrady) to stay healthy? If that happens, and if we actually get these guys back on schedule, this season is far from over. We'd be coming back from the break with that team that was projected 2-4 in the West plus a rejuvenated Howard and our surprising young heroes. To me, Sura's the best news of all. If he comes back in March he might actually be in game shape for the playoffs. I didn't see that coming at all.
I can't believe the news about Sura either. I had pretty much written him off for the rest of the season. That would be AMAZING to have him back after the All Star break!
I never counted out Sura because he has grit and great heart. Him coming back in March definetly gets us into the playoffs. HE WAS AND IS THE HEART AND SOUL OF THE ROCKETS. Go Rockets!!!
I tell ya, with the way our team has been playing the past few days, I'd have a really hard time putting Jon Barry, Derek Anderson, and Even Stromile Swift back on the court. Can you imagine our current lineup + Yao Ming (and Deke coming off the bench)?
Think 39-43 will make it to spring ball? You'd better believe that 45 W's must be the standard to chase.
Why would 45 wins be the "standard" when the current 8th seed is 21-22? Your "45" seems to be based upon some historical mark that is not occurring during the current season. The best mindset for the team is to get healthy and win as many as possible. But to place too high a finite number as a "standard" is counter productive motivationally.
