I dont know the semantics of the contratcs and whatnot. but since the Artest deal was called off, you know the Kings are gonna look to deal Peja soon. Couldnt that deal that we offered to Indiana for Artest also be offered for Peja? I dont reme, mber the full thing, but it was rumored to be Head, draft pick, and another guy for Artest
If Peja comes here he could ask for a huge contract in the offseason or he might decide to leave as a free agent. He also has had back problems this year. Giving up our 1st round pick + Head may lead us empty handed.
I dont really care if it is Peja, Artest, or Harrington, I would, love to see the Rockets deal for a 3rd scoring option. God knows that the only Swift is good for is Nothing.
If we could get him for moochie and bowen...sure if not then it's not worth it with him being FA in the offseason, his production has been on a serious downslide
Peja would have to sign an extension before I would do that deal. Plus I think Head + our number 1 pick would be too much.
Three way, with no-way to Houston: Peja - Indy Artest - Clips Maggette/Wilcox - Kings It works so poorly for everyone. Do it.
Peja, can shoot. But what else can he do? Is he a good passer? A good defender? A good rebounder? Can he play multiple positions? We know what he can do; he can sit outside the 3pt line and hit a shot with somebody in the low post attracting attention for him like he did in the old Sacto+Webber days. With that said, Peja is going to be a FA and is going to ask for near MAX money. With his skillset, is it worth MAX money? At his current stage of play is he any different than a MLE type player like Hedo Turkgulo? I think Peja can help a team. Especially a team with a low post presence (such as Indiana). However, whatever team he goes to is going to be seriously overpaying for his skillset in my opinion so that has to be a concern for any team looking to take him on.
I have to be honest I dont see Head going any further in his career than an off the bench guy. If he proves me wrong and shows some semblance of being a superstar, I have a feeling he will bolt once his rookie contract is up. Peja is a proven scorer, if anyone can honestly say they see Head averaging 20+ a game while Tracy and Yao are in their primes, then I have a bridge to sell to you. Peja on this team with Yao and Tracy healthy would get us into the playoffs and give us a great shot at reaching the WCF and possibly the finals. And if we get within sniffing distance of a title because of Peja, isn't that worth it already? How many great young players out there will NEVER win a title? You need to grab the opportunity when you can. Young talent ALWAYS comes along
Plus every time I see the guy he's sitting on the bench in a suit. FA looking for a lot of money don't see him fitting the economics of the team for what he brings.
OLd,Injured,Expensive.......just the opposite way that the Rockets need to go.............. BUT if he was going to end up in the Pacers and we were to get Artest, then this is a much better stategy.http://bbs.clutchfans.net/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=2164523# Cool
I think Peja would absolutely thrive playing with Tracy Mcgrady, and he would also allow Yao to thrive by keeping the defense honest...they're either going to get dominated by Yao, or burned from the arch by Peja. That being said, he's not worth the huge contract he's going to demand in the offseason, he's a poor defender, and I'm not so sure about his team loyalty. So, unless we can get him for Moochie, Stromile and a bag of chips, I'd say no.
Have you seen Peja in the playoffs? His 'sweet' jumper dissappears. Remember when the Lakers got Glen Rice for consistent shooting at forward position? What happened in the playoffs? The consistent shooting came from Robert Horry. Plus do you really want to pay a guy that much to hoist up jumpers? he cant do anything else.
That's what I said...he's not worth what he's going to demand for a guy that shoots and nothing else. I didn't say 'trade for him at all costs'...I said offer up our trash, which basically means we have no shot at him. As far as his jumper disappearing, he's never played with a guy close to Mcgrady's caliber to create for him, and never had a big man that demands help down low like Yao (spare me on Webber). Also, Glen Rice was broken down by the time the Lakers got him...all he could do was jack up threes with his bad knee(s), just like he did with the Rockets. His post game was gone, and his shot wasn't anywhere near as good as it once was. Anyway, bottom line is we don't have what it takes to get Peja anyway.
spare you on webber? webber in his prime got more attention from the d than yao gets. peja just shrinks in the clutch.
no chance of this happening - but anyway the Rox need a guy who can play either guard slot or a PF and Peja can't do those things. Shooters are always welcome of course, but at Peja's price it's probably not in the Rox best interest.
