So, I left an interior light on in my truck last night and, of course, I can't get ,it to start now. However, my lights still work, and 10 minutes after I turned the lights off, my keyless entry began to work again. I can't get a jump right now since I'm boxed in at my apartment complex by people who are currently at work. Will I have to get jumped off and some point, or will the battery eventually recharge on its own?
It ain't gonna charge on its until the engine is running again (at which time the alternator can charge the battery). Where are you?
Good idea! If it's a stick shift, get a buddy to push it as fast as he can. Before he does this, push in the clutch and put it in first gear. Then, while he's pushing, release the clutch quickly and it may start. (I forgot all about that trick!)
It will regain some of it's charge. If the battery is completely dead or you have some bad cells, you're hosed. If the battery didn't drain to badly, she might crank up after she sits for awhile. Let us know next time you check it.
I thought I might have a chance when my keyless entry started to work after about 10 minutes. I'll give it another try in about an hour.
I have cables, it's just the fact that I'm parked between a wall and a car whose owner is currently gone, so I can't get another car into a position to give me a jump.
Do you have a cell phone w/road side assistance? If so give them a call and they will usually send someone with those portable battery charger things. The same thing happened to me and they sent a dude with a tow truck and he had one of those things and charged my battery right up.
You need this: My jump box has saved me on many occasions. Jumping a battery with cables is a major pain and requires others to help. This takes less than one minute and you can do it solo. Kinda reminds me of most internet users' favorite pasttime.
Just go talk to your manager. A guy will come over, help you push your car out, (which any able-bodied male should be able to do by themselves) and jump your car with theirs. Just start driving?
Haven't checked lately, but probably around $50 at Wal-Mart. You can also get them with air compressors -- a lot of police have these.
RocketFan007, don't do ANYTHING that can drain the battery if you can wait on it to charge again. Push it out anyway you can, block people's paths and force their *ss to help you. You may want to stand in the middle of the parking area like this: Trader_Hor-Hey, that's a good idea... ummm... late, but good.
