Looking at the schedule from now until the end of February...IMO, the only tough games will be Miami, LAC, and Pheonix twice. I honestly think we are about to go on a run...I see at worst 13-4 from now until then if not better. I think we can definitely beat Miami, and Pheonix once.

Anyhow, that would put us at 26-31 at the end of February...25 games left to play. Still a long way to go from there but you have to believe this team will be ready to make a push once they get back in the race.

Well as Bill Worrel said a couple of players are slated to return wednesday night when we play the bobcats so I'm excited about the team. We will make a nice run and we will make the playoffs. With Yao coming back and Tmac playing great ball we will be hard to contend with. Alston,WEsley have been hitting shots and if Head can find his touch again we wilkl be fine. Go Rockets!!!

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but making up 6 games in 42 games is pretty hard.

How so? It is an unusual season in the extent that this seasons' WC #8 seed has consistently played within 1 win of .500 ball. Assuming 43 wins gets you in (or very close to) the playoffs, they need to go 29-13 from here out.

29-13 is .69%...or winning 7 of 10. Stated another way, you're picking up 2 games every 10 on teams which are playing .500 ball.

I'm not giddy with optimism but this is who we are currently in competition with for #8...

    Utah...21-21
    Minnesota...19-19
    NO/Oklahoma City...20-21
    Golden State...19-21
    Sacramento...17-23
    Seattle...16-24

    It's do-able...in small chunks...here are the 7-3 milestones...21-29...28-32...35-35...42-38 with 2 games to play. :)

This is good, because it means all we need to do to make the playoffs is pass the .500 mark.

If we succeed and do make the playoffs, that #1/#2 seed better watch out.

True that. It will be fate.

I do believe that this is our last shot, but we will do it! T-Mac is on a mission.

I disagree, and I'll tell you why? The most important thing is getting all the players back healthy. At full strength I believe this rocket team is the 3rd best in the league behind the Spurs and Pistons. If you're ranked that high 6 games want be that hard to make up. The current guys playing right now can hold their own as long as nobody foul out the game.

LOL, why don't you just go ahead and say Rox is No.1 given the full strength? You are too pessimistic. :p

I would, but first the rockets have to beat the Spurs and the Pistons. That's just what I believe, take it or leave it

I refuse to say anything. The last time I joined in a thread of this nature this season everything fell to hell.

    I am a one-man rockets jinx. :(

    1) not all the players are back healthy, and that won't be the case for at least a couple of weeks more, if not longer.

    2) if we go 30-12 the rest of the way (which will be an amazing run even if the team is healthy today and stay that way for the rest of the season), you have to have all 7-8 teams right above us go under 24-18. If any of them have a good second half, we are out.

A lot of your guys are making it sound like 6 games out is out of reach, which in reality it really isn't. Asumming that teams from the 7th seed and below are goin at the current pace right now, we have a very good chance to catch up and then some when we get our guys back healthy, especially Yao. We were 5-0 at one stretch with both T-Mac and Yao and 9-4 overall, so I don't see why so many of you are counting us out at this stage of the season? Why no show of optimism after what we've learned from last year? T-Mac is back for God sake and if we win tonight, we may very well start a nice streak even before we get Yao back and head into the All-Star break within 3-2 games out. Once we get yao and the gang back in the 2nd half of the season, I believe we will be ready for take off and finish the season strong like last year.

First we must beat the Bobcats on WEdnesday and then be ready to take on an inconsistant but still very dangerous Minnesota team. I think over the next few games we will climb back into the playoff race and by the seasons end we will be the 8th seed playing Dallas in round 1. Go Rockets!!!

Going 5-0 doesn't mean you make up 5 games. Actually you could have made up 0 games if other teams also go 5-0. If the current 7th seed goes at the current pace, going 5-0 means we make up slightly over 2 games.

We need to go 31-11 to get 45 wins, the number of wins #8 seed had last year. If we were in perfect shape right now, it is doable. But we are still missing Yao, Sura, Barry, DA and Swift.
