Is there a particular reason why they just didn't remove his big toenail? If he has ingrown toenails, and they keep getting cracked and stepped on, causing it to fall out and regrow crookedly, it seems like it would be easier to take that sucker out once and for all.

Can't we just give him a bionic toe? Common he's worth more than 6 million dollars. If they can give steve austin bionic arms and legs, by god, they can give Yao a bionic toe. di..di..di...di...di...di Would that be legal in NBA I wonder?

I wasn't ingrown, it was infected (with fungus, likely T. pedis ). That is why he needed surgery, and to remove the infected tissue.

He needs antifungals and antibiotics for 2-3 weeks to prevent the infection from recurring...if he doesn't complete the entire sequence then the infection can return....so it really isn't something they can do now except wait.

Anyone know if they're making Yao a new set of steel-toed sneakers? :D

Holy Fungus. I didn't even remember posting in this thread. I click it and find a bunch of posts about whether I "cursed" Yao Ming.

Dude, please consult a doctor about your meds. You have something that starts with a P, ends with an A, and has "annoy" in the middle. I was joking about our luck with injuries. Losing the anchor of our frontcourt was not high on my wish list for this or any season.

And if you read really carefully between the lines of what I'm saying, what you'll find is ... empty space.

I could be wrong, but everything I had read was that Yao's big toenail fell out in the summer or last season, regrew crooked, got infected, got stepped on by Fortson sometime in there, and he finally got treatment. That's how it has been portrayed in the the Chinese media. Looking at the pic of Yao's nasty-ass toenail, I say they should have just removed it.

So can someone tell me when Yao is really going to be back on the court? Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't this 3 weeks to return posted 2 weeks ago? So then if I;'m correct Yao should be back in a week and a half then right? I hope so because if we can get him and Tmac on the floor at the same time we can and will make a playoff run. Go Rockets!!!

After the Bulls game TMac said something like "when we get Yao back in a week or so", so I'm guessing he's close. I think it's in the Chronicle article from saturday.

It seems Yao will be back in Heat game this Saturday. It's chinese new year. I guess that's part of the reason why we have a ABC game. But I am not sure if that's good for Yao. To play Shaq in your first game is not a easy one.
