Anyone have inside info on the Houston team name? I am anxious to know what it is, and would love any info at all. Thanks.

I was watching some show on Fox and Jesus Ortiz went off on MLS. He was like you can fool the soccer moms but Mexicans aren't stupid, and the MLS is inferior to Europe.

So funny. Everyone else was like whoa! dude calm the f down.

look..if you don't want to go, don't go. but don't turn it into a racial deal.

Last thread I saw it said "Houston Republic" with a shield type logo (light blue and orange as the main colors). I am not sure if this is going to be it or not though.

That turned out to be a hoax. And sadly I'm kind of scared that the fake one will end up better than the real one.

The only thing I've seen about the name is this blog entry.

Most likely people will call them the 36er's like 49er's or 76er's.

It would be great if it ends up being Houston 1836, that's what I voted for! Any idea as to when it will be anounced? The date seems to keep getting pushed back.

    The time/location is set now.
It's Wed. Jan 25th at 2pm at Lanier Middle School:
    Address:

    2600 Woodhead St
    Houston, TX 77098

It's odd that it's being announced at a middle school. And it'll probably be the same day as the Texans/Kubiak announcement so it'll get less press.

Somebody found the new logo on MLS's website. Looks pretty good to me. Kinda reminds me of the Astros a little though.

I like it. I also like the name. I'm glad they went with something more traditional. The logo does play on the Astros star a little, but is that necessarily a bad thing?

I'm looking foward to my first MLS game this season. It's not everyday the team with the best regular season record moves to your town. It will take a little time to catch on, but I think it will in a big way. This is truly the best chance to bring a championship to Houston.

EDIT: I think you spoiled it.

Looks like they found out and took it down. Good thing I saw that coming.

It doesn't have the team name. It just says "Houston 1836." I like the colors (Orange). I guess the name will be republic but it should at least be included in the logo.
