Never really bawled (sp?) my eyes out...but do get teared up every now and then... the most recent I remember was "Friday Night Lights", when they are in the locker room at halftime against Carter, and the Coach (Billy Bob Thornton) gives his speech. Oh, and a couple of scenes in "March of the Penguins"...you may laugh, but it gets dramatic for a documentary. Great movie btw.
That's what I heard, but I was in first grade. What kind of teacher makes a little kid watch a movie about two dogs dying?
"The Rennaisance Man"-with Danny DeVito. Near the end of the film the scene is in heavy rain - one of the characters is challenged by an authority figure to recite some Shakespeare. The character has a heavy- NorthEastern accent and performs a soliloquy. The speech is a famous one I forget now, but the theme is one of respect for brotherhood among soldiers and sadness at those who died. Very powerful. It put chills up my spine and I have no military background at all.. "The Verdict" with Paul Newman - Newman's character has few redeeming qualities and he is an alchoholic who drinks. He has issues. He is redeemed at the end and his expiation is "palpable. I am not an attorney, but this imperfect man winning is moving......
The Bridges of Madison County - Don't ask me why. I just lost it. ET - when it came out at the movies.
the two biggest tearing up moments for me are the ending of Gladiator (the whole sequence moes mentioned) and the end of Saving Private Ryan where the old Ryan turns to his wife and says "Tell me I'm a good man, tell me I've lived a good life" (i may have reversed the sentences). that definitely starts the watering up. but, there is only one movie where i've actually had tears coming down my cheeks (granted i would've only teared up if someone else had been in the room), and that's Field of Dreams. weird thing is that it was about the 20th time i'd seen it when i really cried. when he says "Hey...Dad? Wanna have a catch?" i always just lose it. hell, it's getting to me just typing it. that movie is so friggin' perfect.
I thought I was the only one! Shawshank Redemption jumps out ... esp the scene when Red walks on the beach, WOW ... goosebumps! I think it has to do with Morgan Freeman's voice. Empire of the Sun The Outsiders - When Ponyboy is in the hospital Leaving Las Vegas Sleepers When a Man Loves a Woman - the entire movie. I love Andy Garcia in this movie. Meg Ryan is great, too. A League of Their Own - The ending is really good, and the scene when they're in the locker room and the postman delivers the letter from the warfront and one of the girls' husband dies. The Joy Luck Club - Great movie! The scenes showing the lives of the moms, and the end when June meets her sisters at the train station, and they look at their moms pic and are laughing/crying ... Mei-mei!
I've come close a few times, but the only one that got me (that I can recall) was Transformers the Movie. I was pretty shook when Prime died.... Damn Hot Rod!!!! I know this isn't a movie, but the John Stockton shot broke me and sent me into a depression until the Finals were over....
i'd cry as well if I saw that movie ironically though I was nearly a p***y at 50 first dates. i was with the crew though, so they could never see me cry.
First, this makes me think of a jerk at my last corporate job with really big ears. he stabbed me in the back big time. So everytime his name would come up I would say in a little kid's voice: "fly, Dumbo, fly! fly, Dumbo, fly!" Field of Dreams with the playing catch scene at the end - gets all of us who have Dads. A River Runs Through It. Fly fishing, Dad & two brothers, Brad Pitt dies. The movie ends, I've got tears running down my face. My wife & daughter stand up and say "That was the dumbest movie I've ever seen!" "Yeah, I agree. Fly fishing!!" A Home of their own - when the mom beats the oldest boy with a belt. Hit way too close to home with my childhood. Started sobbing in front of my kids.
I guess this pretty much means all of us except Macbeth. HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAH Pretty Select Company. Up there with Jesus and Darth Vader.
Remember the Titans - After they won the big game and that kid gets hit by the car. And then he is in the hospital with his black friend and says to the nurse "are you blind? can't you see he is my brother". For some reason, I never saw the car coming, even though when watching it now it seems obvious that was going to happen. Independance Day - when the President's wife dies and he is sitting in the hallway with his little girl.
