actually russia probably had as much to do with it than the US. and they took the brunt of the punishment. and the US de facto participation in the holocaust when it denied the early signs given germany's importance to the US economy is well documented.
We liberated some of them. The Russians liberated some of them. Prior to that we turned away boat loads of Jewish people who were fleeing the holocaust. In addition we were part of the problem with Henry Ford giving away a free copy of a book saying that Jews were inferior to every family that purchased a car. However a difference is that our govt. isn't currently trying to pretend like it never happened. Iran's govt. is.
All of the extermination camps were in Poland. Chelmno, Belzec Sobibor, Treblinka and Auschwitz. The Russians couldn't help liberating them and we couldn't help not liberating them unless one or the other decided to take the long route to Berlin. Hitler's plan was always to kill off or dislocate almost all "non-Ayrian" populations to the east and settle the lands with German farming families. The only people to the west whom he killed were those who were "most undesirable".
...as an unintended consequence. But in reality, at the time we could give a you know what. We were going to enter the war regardless (and in fact, were already taking sides and supplying the Brits/French with everything they needed), but Pearl Harbor accelerated that process. We needed to make sure that the Germans and the Japanese didn't create their own autarkies and effectively keep us out of both Asia and a large chunk of Europe. They were a huge threat to the Open Door, so we had to stop them.
The Russians did most of the fighting against Hitler, they carried an awesome burden and were mostly responsible for the defeat of the Axis powers on the European front of the war. However, the U.S. carried the day in the Pacific.
What a rediculous comparison. Americanians ( or Americans as we like to call ourselves) turned our backs on the holocaust when the common man didn't know it was happening. You would have to have been living in a cave for the past 60 years for the word not to have reached you by now. It isn't as if these guys recently heard a mention of some event involving the Jews and are thinking it is not possible such a horrible thing occured. The people behind this hate the Jews and are trying to deny something they know damn well really happened because they want to make their ignorant population believe it and they know it would be easier to defame Israel if they didn't have that whole holocaust thing to fall back on.
Is it really that ridiculous? And I know its Americans, just like the word is IRANI's OR PERSIAN... The United States did join WW2, but not because of the holocaust, or to liberate the jews, and you know damn well about that. We even participated in the olympics while the jews were being exterminated. The USA sent back ships filled with refugee's back to Germany to face their doom just so that they dont overcrowd our cities. And the holocaust honestly is not that well known of an event in other parts of the country, it is given far too much weight in the American education system. There were many other atrocities that are committted world wide that American students never hear of, but are taught about the holocaust since the day they hit middle school, till the end of their college core. In other parts of the world, the subject of the holocaust or the extermination of the Native Americans for example doesnt even get a full days worth of lecture, while something like the atrocities of genghis khan, or the Tyranny of some of the Indian kings, or the Bosnia/Chechnya gennocides get a whole semester worth of teaching. Its kinda like Israel saying that there is no killing of innocent people by any organized people going on in that area and never was. Whereas if you say that to a palestinian, it will drive him crazy as to how oblivious of such a huge event some people are. Im not saying that the Holocaust didnt happen, but for someone to hold a conference about what happened exactly isnt the worse thing going on this world. People are dying every day in Iraq, and yet some of you have your panties all bunched up coz some guy said that some innocents that were killed for no reason really may not have been.
Thanks for your post, I now know exactly where you stand. Even on this liberal board, you couldn't sell that. Welcome to the area occupied by T_J and others. We call it the "Ignorant Zone"
This is hilarious. As usual the liberals find it extremely difficult to criticize a foreign country like Iran for it's disgusting views on the Holocaust. AT THE SAME TIME they find it so easy to criticize America for it's actions in World War II!
C'mon guy, it's obvious that these idiots and their conference is a mockery. There's a reason why Iran is treated like the blacksheep.
I am not mocking the whole idea of American support in WW2, but I am mocking the stupidity and lack of sense used in the header for this thread. My first post in this thread was to mock the thread starter, others seemed hellbent on claiming the United States virginity of all bad things ever. Ofcourse we did good in WW2, but we arent immaculate. thats all im saying.
