There are a lot of people who started off as YOFs and then became full-fledged Rocket fans. That's sort of the point of getting popular players... Pryuen has contributed a lot to this site with his translations of Chinese articles. He posted pics of Clutch the Bear in China. Sounds like a Rocket fan to me. (Yao is not Clutch the Bear). As for me - I freely admit that I wouldn't be here if Yao wasn't a Rocket. No shame in admitting it. Did I like the Rockets before Yao? No. Do I like them now? Yes. Would I still follow the Rox if my countryman was traded (for Odom and Mihm )? Not as much - but yes I would still follow them.
that's one of the more troubling things about this board. people are so quick to label someone as a YOF or whatever they dont even take time to read what theyre trying to write. im not trying to implicate anyone specifically in this thread or anything, i just see it happen frequently who cares if someone only likes yao or tmac. isnt that the point of having superstars? if someone bothers to take the time to sign up and translate articles for us like pryuen then they obviously have some kidn of attachment to the team and want the team to do well. i personally really appreciate pryuen's translations bcause they give a different perspective from halfway across the world it sucks that we're losing cause it really divides the board
Latest update of Yao Ming's recuperation as from an article by the Houton based Zhu Junwei on sina.com.
I had the same operation and was back playing basketball in 3 weeks.... Of course, I was not paid millions of dollars to do it... DD
Well, I did not know basketball and I did not follow the Rockets in the past. I just started to pick up the interest about basketball and the Rockets all because of Yao Ming. I don't know about Will's track record and that he is a moderator/great contributor here. But I really don't care if someone just popped in and say something like "Just recovered from injury in time to be stepped onto the toe again by Shaq O'Neal". That is not humour as far as I'm concerned. Imagine some 350 lb dude stepping onto your toe that just got recovered from a major surgery/injury. That is with some evil intent as far as I'm concerned.
If you have read some Will's posts related to Yao Ming, you will find that evidently he hates (at least dislike) Yao Ming.
The bottom line is like this. If you don't think they care about what you think of 'em and they don't respect your opinions, why would you care about what they think and respect their opinions? Lean not to care!!
GREAT NEWS from a Zhu Junwei (Houston-based reporter) from sina.com:Yao Ming is allowed to starting runnin, jumpin and training with basketball this week !!!!
that's will for you. he'll take in a stray puppy just for the sheer delight of barbequeing it alive in front of the neighbors kids. yao needs to keep his toe away from pecking ducks.
BAD NEWS !!! Let's hope what was reported on this sina.com article is not correct. Does that mean he will miss his target date of returning to compete by Chinese New Year Day (January 29th) against Miami Heat/Shaquille O'Neal ??? BTW, a photo of Yao Ming's toe.
Maybe they are quoting the old estimation. Either way, I am not worried whether Yao can return on schedule, as long as he returns 100% healthy. I don't care much about the playoff at this point, just want to see if the players can gel on the court and find out who to keep and who to let go.
