I find it more acceptable to use a cell phone at a loud place than to disturb other people at a quiet place.
ok, i don't understand why numbers 4 and 5 would bother people. i'll address number 4 first. what's so annoying about it? they aren't holding you up in line. it's not as if the grocery store has a particular ambiance that can be ruined by it. as for number 5, i think you have more distractions to worry about in a crowded bar than a guy talking on his cell phone. things like, oh i don't know, music or other people's conversations would be a greater distraction.
I must agree that calling someone from a loud place and then expect them to yell back at you just so you can hear them is just plain asinine.
Personally, I hate the d-bags who start loudly yapping away as soon as the plane hits the ground. It's one thing to tell the person you've landed, but nobody cares about your stupid personal conversation about nothing.
The guy in the bar is between Tex and the bartender. Not a safe place. I can fully understand being annoyed at him for doing anything other than getting his drink and moving out of the way.
I think the cell phone thing is that your calls just shouldn't be imposed on others. Back in the ol' public phone days, the public phones were out of the way, or in little booths. At the hotel lobby, the phones aren't in the middle of the room....they're in the hall, or elsewhere where your conversation is shielded from others. Gives the caller some privacy and the rest of us some peace. Nobody wants to hear your call. STFU. Go to the hallway. Go speak into a corner. If you really want to talk to the guy on the phone...then go see him. Otherwise, discretely say what you have to say so that you don't disturb others.
Being between me and a bartender and holding me up from getting my braindrown on is a very dangerous place to be!
What pisses me off more than people being on the phone are people who have ridiculously irritating or ridiculously LOUD cell phone ringtones. The idiots here at my work NEVER take their phone with them. They are always sitting on their desk when they go roaming the halls. So I sit here and listen to this guys phone ring the Black Eyed Peas OVER AND OVER and its ringing FULL FREAKING BLAST!!!! One day it just rang over and over and finally I answered the phone and yelled, "HE IS OBVIOUSLY NOT HERE OR HE DOESN'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU!!! STOP CALLING!!!" Then I hung up and went and put it in the women's restroom. Man that pisses me off. Put your **** on vibrate like I do.
I LOVE it when I'm watching Rockets games and there is always stupid people talking on their cell phones and then...like...OH MY GOD...whomever is on the other end goes "HEY...I SEE YOU ON TV!". AND...THEN...LIKE...WHATEVER...the stupid person at the sporting event is talking on the cell phone and then waving at the camera going "DOH...LOOK I'M ON TV AND WAVING AT YOU WHILE I TALK TO YOU!" . OH MY GOD...how cool is that? I'm so cool now! Like...I brought my cell phone to the game to make random calls to people so I could wave to them on TV while I talk to them at the same time. GAG ME WITH A SPOON! I also love how old people now drive and talk on cell phones...as if they could only drive before! So, does it bother me that people make calls from loud places while the other person on the other end is in a quiet place!? OH MY GOD...WHY WOULD IT? LIKE...IT BOTHERS ME ABOUT AS MUCH AS A SCARF AND BARF AT THE LOCAL MALL! CELL PHONES ARE TOTALLY AWESOME! RUDENESS DOESN'T APPLY WHEN YOU HAVE A CELL PHONE! PEOPLE DO WHAT THEY WANT CAUSE...LIKE...THEIR PORTABLE NOW!!! OH MY GOD...GET OVER IT ALREADY! - Valley Surf (while he farts into his cell phone to the person listening on the other end...which is completely acceptable since...like...cell phones are portable)
It depends on if they know you're annoyed or not. If they know it annoys you and they do it, then it's rude. I have to remember to take my cell phone next time I see RMTex. BTW, my co-workers love my Sanford and Son ringtone.
I got a question: Why is it that the person who is at the noisy place screams into the phone, when it is clear that it is the OTHER person should be the one who has to scream so that the one in the noisy place hears him?
