Man if clippers get Artest and he behaves. That team will be dangerous. I'm shivering in my boots just thinking about it. Adding a lock down defender on that team will allow them to match up with San Antonio pretty well now.

that's a nightmare trade for the pacers. with both tinsley and maggette on their roster the concern would be when those two will be healthy not if they can stay healthy.

wonder if the Pacers can get Wilcox thrown in the deal

O'Neal, Magette, Tinsley and Granger is nice core to build around

Maggette may be out for the year, so it won't help the Pacers this year, unfortunately.

Getting Corey is a lot better than the Dunleavy or Pietrus or Mike Miller type rumored deals, should he get healthy.

Not a great deal from the Pacer perspective, but no one wants to give anything close to fair value.

I prefer Odom or a warriors package with Diogu & Biedrins, but those appartently were too much.

Because of his injury, trading for Maggette would be a mistake.

Anybody that gets Artest is going to regret it, the guy is certifiable and disloyal and anybody that gets him beside the Knicks and Cavs will only have him for a 2 year lease.

Clippers are trading great chemistry for a nuke.

Hard to say what such a trade would do for each team.

If Artest doesn't self-destruct, the Clippers will kick a$$.

Indiana will lose its giant distraction. The Pacers can allow Maggette to get healthy and just play to the best of their ability this year while he's out; next year, they can start from scratch and see how it goes.

Will the Pacers have chemistry, though? Are Stephen Jackson and Corey Maggette both gunners? Will that work?

Wow, you're not kidding. He's only played 70+ games twice in his career (although he's never played less than 60 games until now, I guess). But I do think that's the best the Pacers will get...who cares, anyway, Danny Granger looks like he's going to be a stud

I seriously doubt that Dunleavy will let him get away with much.

It's a good trade for the Pacers, though. They're getting rid of a talented psycho for a guy who could be a perennial all-star, provided he stays healthy.

haven't the Clippers started to slump and they are have certainly stopped playing D in the last half dozen games, think they are given up about 105 in their last 5 games.....the payoff for the clippers in getting artest is he can help the D

I'm a little worried about how Jackson, who is a hothead, would react to having to defer to Maggette or even go to the bench and allow Granger and Maggette to start at the 3 and the 2.

That lineup would make a lot of sense because Jackson could back up bothe the 2 and the 3 equally well. It would leave Fred Jones out, but he is a free agent this summer and the Pacers aren't likely to break the bank to keep a backup undersized (6'2") 2-guard, even though he can defend, is the quickest player on the team by far, and has radically improved his shot.

Another scenario has Jackson being moved also. But if Maggette doesn't come back for another month, it's doubtful that Jax would be moved before the deadline and it would be a summer move.

Jackson is hard to like, as a fan. He can be clutch, but he is VERY STREAKY. When he is off he is really whiney and pissed off at the refs, the teammates, his coaches, and the whole world, it seems.

The Pacers would obviously stand to improve the most if he swallowed the ego and accepted a 6th man role, with a starting 5 of Tinsley/Maggette/Granger/O'Neal/Foster or Harrison with a bench of Saras/Jones/Jackson/Croshere/Harrison or Foster.

Isn't Carlisle a taskmaster? I wonder how much he didn't let Artest get away with.

I think Dunleavy would work around Artest much like how he approached his tenure with the Jailblazers...

    Pacers would definitely win out.

With Steve suspended indefinitely, why not do a suspended player for suspended player trade. ;) Steve Francis has way more talent than Maggette and is not injury prone. Tinsley is always injured anyway. They don't need Tinsley, Maggette, Pollard wasting away on the bench. Magic would love Artest. Grant Hill will probably retire this year anyway.

I'm a Clips fan and I'm intrigued by Artest's potential.

However, can you imagine the amount of distractions in Hollywood? Artest will probably only show up for games sporadically, that is if he can fit them in between his rap concerts and movie appearances.

On the other hand, I can totally see this as something Don Sterling would do. He is all about selling tickets and manking bank. Artest probably draw crowds the way a car wreck does.

"No Deal in the Works With the Clippers"

I'm Conrad Brunner and this is the Pacers.com Confidential Report for Thursday, January 12th.

Despite widespread media reports of an agreement between the Pacers and Clippers to swap Ron Artest for Corey Maggette, Pacers CEO and President Donnie Walsh told Pacers.com today, "We don't have a deal for Maggette."

TNT reports during the Laker game that a deal with the clips was in the works, but Pacers's doctors would not verify Magette's health so the deal is now off the table.
