That's kind of what I was thinking. It kind of reminds me of the woman who found a finger in chili at Wendy's last year. It turned out that she's the one who put it there.

It wouldn't surpised me if this woman slipped her kid some Long Island iced tea and blamed it on Applebee's.

    It's up there with TGIFridays.

The difference between them and Denny's is all of their chains sell drinks.

    I love Applebee's.

The "licking the bread basket" line had me cracking up.

This reminds me of something that happened to me in elementary, though. When I was in elementary (somewhere between 3rd and 5th grade I'm almost certain), I got an apple juice from the breakfast line. Now, I don't know why I did this, but I think it was becuase our orange juice routinely tasted like fish. Anyways, I took a drink, and it was DISGUSTING! Somehow, I knew that's what beer tasted like. I told one of the lunch ladies, and she took it from me immediately. She smelled it, and goes, "Yeah, it DOES smell like beer." I don't even think she gave me another one.

i've never been to applebee's and i have no idea where one is but i'd definitely bet money that they don't have pitcher's of long island ice tea.

woah, what's with all the Denny's bashing in here? their pancakes (and breakfasts in general) are awesome.

as for the story, i think Dante reserved the innermost circles of Hell for people who bring lawsuits like this.

So the kid doesn't like apple juice now that he's been liquored up?

    That seems a bit much.

And he was licking breadbaskets and being a r****d? Maybe he's just a r****d, like most 5 year olds are. Unless her son was the next coming of Einstein, which I honestly doubt since he can't differentiate between apple juice and long island ice tea and refuses to drink one because of a bad experience with the other, I don't see how she can be so surprised.

In the Jester Dorm buffet, on Thanksgiving, my Diet Coke tasted like it had alcohol in it. It came from the fountain drink machine, too, so I guess someone could have tampered with it. Maybe it was a Thanksgiving present? Either way, I drank three glasses just to prove to my friends that although it smelled like alcohol (and tasted a bit weird), it was nothing. And unless I have a very high tolerance (I wouldn't know because I don't drink), I was right because it did nothing to me other than make me a little sick from the smell.

Reminded me of Amaretto, actually. My mom drinks that stuff on holidays when family is over, and I'll never forget that sweet-bitter smell.

Actually, he probably refuses to drink the apple juice because now he's holding out for the good stuff. :D

Oh no! A kid got a few sips of alcohol! How terrible! Big friggin' deal.

Also, it takes a lot more than booze for a kid to call his mother a "stupid slut." There are some definite bad parenting issues there.

Couldn't agree more. That place is really bad, but nothing touches Bennigan's for the worst food ever......

Apple juice has a lot of sugar in it. If this experience gets the kid to switch to water at an early age, the mom should be sending a gift basket to the waiter instead of suing Applebee's. I sure wish I had not gotten hooked on sugar drinks when I was a kid.
