It's hard to say that after yet another loss, but I am going to say it. This is probably the only time you'll have to give prop to a coach after losing a game. If any coach, in the NBA, NCAA or the South African League, can coach a team composed of: Ryan Bowen Juwan Howard Dike Mutombo David Wesley Rafer Alson Luther Head John Lucas III Lonny Baxter Moochie Norris into beating any NBA team, that coach has just performed a miracle. Well, guess what, JVG is no miracle worker. Now we realized that. However, he's just a coach who doesn't make excuses and gives up. Did you ever hear him making excuses? If he wants to, he can. If you have 9 CBA guys and lost a game to a NBA team, that's an excuse right there. He didn't use it. We took the game into double-overtime. That itself is an amazing accomplishment. You guys need to give him credit for that. "Well if we win on Wednesday we'll be 5-5 in our last 10, not too bad" Take a guess who said this. A fan who some message board wrote this after his team just lost? No, it's Eddie Jordan, the coach of Washington Wizards who said this after his healthy team just got whippd by the lowly Utah Jazz at home. Now, if that's the coach of the Houston Rockets, I'd call for firing his ass on the spot. Did you ever hear JVG making excuses like that? He has ever right to, given his situation tonight.
Ummmmm, you know what our injuries are basically due to JVG, he played T-Mac too much since last year with knowing that T-Mac is not that durable. He asks every player to work too much, he likes old players and Knickers. Someone have predited that T-Mac will step down sooner or later as early as in the middle of last year. We have to think about why the hell we have so many injuries and how to avoid them. He's absolutely a good coach but not smart enough to win the title!
our entire starting line up is out sura anderson tracy stro yao !!!! we played the entire game with all bench players and still managed to make it to 2 overtimes.
Yao got an infected toe during summer, I guess JVG stepped on it. Tmac's disc wasn't aligned right ever since his birth, I guess JVG was his father. Sura's got a knee injury, I guess JVG bent it too hard. Barry and DA got hurt calfs only a few game into the season, I guess JVG kicked them. SS's eyeball got scratched, I guess JVG scratched it. Wow, JVG is the biblical devil who tempted Jesus.
WTF!! You act like JVG and the rest of the team hasn't been telling TMac to take it easy. You deny your superstar minutes he wants and there's going to be some drama. How the f was JVG supposed to know that if he gave his superstar 40 minutes a game like ALL superstars get that TMAC was going to get hurt IF IT EVEN IS TRUE THAT JVG WORE TMAC OUT WHICH HE DIDNT. RUN ON SENTENCE AND I DON'T CARE.
JVG is the best coach the Houston Rockets ever had. and you know there's a few posters around here who think he is a average coach and who dislike him because of his mannerisms and his looks and his personality and all that weak stuff. Then they come here and think they're cute by calling him Mr. Vangundy. being condenscending, you know. That's real cute and everything. And we even have a ballroom dancer who equates him with Hitler and some who blame injuries on him, which is even cuter. And this season is shaping up for these guys to be a real opportunity to strut their stuff you know. I'm sure they are dancing in their rooms and snapping their fingers. I bet they are giddy and gay as can be. Even though they may say they aint but they are. And then on the other end of the spectrum, you have a type of fan who like yourself and others who really understand the reality of the situation and become wiser and even become more attached to their hometown team and coach in such unmerciful times. This Houston Rocket franchise has never been through something like this. JVG has the toughest task that any Houston Rocket coach has ever had. I think he is doing a damn fine job. Now that's not to say I wouldn't be on his ass if we had everyone healthy and we we're struggling. But the facts of life are the facts of life and they are going to be hovering over our season and they can't be thrown aside when evaluating the team and the coach's season. I see a team and coach who has a chance to be greater than they ever had hoped to be because of the shots from hell our team is taking, the adversity they are enduring is one of a kind. This kind of adversity can make Gods out of Men. It really can. When Yao comes back he may just spit fire. And Mcgrady, lightning bolts, right from his fingers. It aint over. It aint over. Its never over.
If Luther gots hurted we say that's unlacky, if sura gets hurted, we know he will get hurted before we even signed him. Tmac is not healthy because we wore him down. Barry and DA got hurted, what can you expect for an old player who is going to retire in a year or 2. We have so many injuries because we build an injury-prone team, and we worked them too much. We are the oldest team in the league, what can you expect, a healthy team?! It might not be JVG's fault to sign so many old legs, but he does work them too much.
I don't like a coach who seems to grind his teams (Knicks and present) down to constant injuries. I'm not talking about Yao or Tmac, but rather the vets he picks and their age. These guys fit well in his system, if they could play more games. **Rudy may have kept it simple, but he's still Houston's best coach.
hurted? anyway t-mac has been fairly durable over his nba career, while logging heavy minutes per game.
JVG does not overwork his players, his players CHOOSE to play the way they know how. Blaming a coach for injuries is probably the most rediculous thing ive heard yet. Players play, thats what they do. They're grown men and can choose what to do and how they want to do it. But im sure you know he overworks them in practice because you go to them, and particiapte in all the training. You have to understand the competive nature of the game, and the players that have that fire. I'm not saying they make the smart decisions all the time and play through injuries, but no one is forcing them to do it. You make it seem like JVG is holding a gun to the players heads and forcing them to train and play. I'm sure it was JVG's also when DM injured his finger too right, and he stabbed Swift in the eye also. The only player we might have worn down is TMAC, but he's had back problems for years now. Injuries suck, and I'm amazed at what he did tonite with the lineup to put out on that floor. You play the cards you are dealt, deal with it.
Van Gundy played McGrady too many minutes, after he was coming back from a back injury. I think that was amazingly shortsighted, to be kind. He may have reinjured it anyway, but it was still damned stupid to do it. And if you think the players decide how many minutes they play, what sport are you watching??
JESUS CHRIST THE DOCTORS AND JVG HAD TO HIDE HIDE HIDE TMAC'S JERSEY!! DID YOU HEAR ME?!!?!?!?! HIDE HIS JERSEY SO HE WOULDn"T come back any sooner. TMAC WAS FIGHTING WITH THEM TO COME BACK. Like all coaches, JVG wanted to save his SUPERSTAR'S HEALTH FOR LATE IN THE SEASON AND PLAYOFFS. STOP WITH ALL THESE IGNORANT POST. MAN you think BIG superstars like kobe, shaq, and tmac don't have a say in what they want to do or how many minutes they want. Who would les GET RID OF if TMAC AND JVG didn't get along? UMM JVG? yea i thought so.
What is it with all this overworked bull ****? So what is he supossed to say? "Don't give it your all". I swear some of you guys sound retarted at times. I love JVG and think he's doing a wonderful job. We're just unlucky this season, and I hope it pays dividends.
