Rome is off the hook. I've been listening to him since '99 and I like the type of humor he has. He also holds all accoutable for stupid things they do whether they are friends of his or not. Example: He dissed his boy T buck for getting abused in the playoff game this weekend. How can you have a Dan patrick show when Dan Patrick is never there??? I swear he has replacements 3 out of 5 days in the week. He has great guests but I find him a weak interviewer. He usually sucks up to the guest and tends to stay away from serious (controversial) questions. I also hate his boys in the studio with him (it used to be dibble or dibs or some crap, who would just laugh to suck up to him even when he isn't funny at all). To each his own. My younger bro likes D. Pat better. I prefer Rome.
I listen to Rome and put on Dan when Olbermann is on with him for an hour. It's funny when Dan makes fun of Rita Cosby's voice and tries to get Keith to make fun of her as well, but he has to hold back because they are coworkers.
Rome!!!! Dan Patrick rooted for "his" Chicago White Sox in the 05 WS. Rome is indebted to Lance Berkman for saving his @$$ big time when Derek Jeter bailed on him at the MLB ASG. He will always show Houston love. He loves to comment on "Balkee from Perfect Strangers" aka JVG. Also 610 AM is one of Romes original affiliates. He is very loyal to them and to H-Town. While it may take you a while to catch on or tolerate his West Coast slang, Jim Rome does GREAT interviews and has GREAT guest, and is not afraid to ask the questions on everyones mind, and he doesnt do it in a puss way like Patrick.
I quit listening to Rome from the first day I heard Dan Patrick. He's funnier, smarter, and doesn't talk about OJ Simpson every 30 seconds. I've grown tired of the "clones", especially when Otis from Austin is involved, AND I'M FROM AUSTIN. Olbermann makes the show even better during the 1:00 hour.
I know part of rome's stichk is running something into the ground but his little "feud" with Curtis Martin has really gotten me off his train. He was supposed to interview Martin three years ago but the Jets declined and said something to the effect of Martin doesn't do negative interviews. now everytime the Jets lose he has something to say. that had a really bad season that year and that's all we heard about. then the next season they make the playoffs and he doesn't talk about them till they lose and this season he was on them again. I was like, dude let it go, please.
