Where do you get that he has no heart? Reggie runs a 4.3 and vince at 4.5. Reggie can be a steal in the third round.
I'm pretty sure reviving the "Reggie McNeal vs. Vince Young" debate isn't really in anybody's best interests right now, considering that one just established himself as a college football legend a few days ago while the other has been seen only on milk cartons.
Considering last I heard there was around 5,000 on the waiting list for Texans season tickets, I don't think any of these people will be getting them. Although I'm sure a lot of people will be giving theirs up after last season. Also, for these people saying they will give up their season tickets if they don't draft so and so.....the first payment is due next month, so they better get some inside information a couple months before draft day if that is their plan.
i can totally understand max's sentiments. as for me, i was a huge oilers fan, earl is still my favorite player of all-time. i rooted for the damn titans because of all the ex-oilers, all the way through their superbowl game. they still felt like my team, until...the texans. i've been in ny for 14 years and still can't root for the local teams, but i was ready to cut ties with the texans had they "lost" that last game because i wanted to get bush. now i am scared to death not to take young. he's the kind of guy i want to get behind, he's a winner and a stud (yes, i have a man crush) and a homeboy to boot. am i a victim of that rosebowl performance? yes i am.
i'm sorry...reggie bush's name in houston, texas isn't the same as vince young's. it's just not. i don't think you'll see local tv stations pre-empting their schedules for a press conference when reggie bush declares for the draft. it's not the same thing.
Without an Oline, Bush isn't crap...look at the holes he and LWhite had...I think its a huge mistake to not take Young...
How does that argument apply to Bush and not Young? Especially considering our run blocking was above average, while it was our pass blocking that was horrific?
Well the story is right in front of us for the taking... AP- Vince Young carries Texans to first Superbowl. The hometown hero came home and delivered what the city of Houston longed for- a trip to the Superbowl. First it was Hakeem Olajawon and the Houston Rockets, then Roger Clemens and the Astros, now Vince Young in his fourth season has lead his hometown team to the championship game. These storybook dreams come around once in a lifetime and Houston has been fortunate to take the risk to make three of them happen for the city. Young in his third season as a starter has taken the league by storm winning rookie of the year honors in 2007 and being named to his third pro- bowl. His 94.3 passing rating was fourth among NFL starters and his 825 yds rushing again was 1st among QB's and 15th best in the league including running backs. Making it even more satisfying for the Texans is they will have the opportunity to face the Dallas Cowboys their in-state arch rivals. Could be one of the best Superbowls in the last 4 years. OK- I woke up! Gotta stop the day-dreaming
I think its obvious what the Texans are doing. They clearly want Bush and will not be picking Young. The reason they are showing their hand early is too get rid of all the Vince Young to Houston hype. They don't want people to start thinking what if we get vince or we have to get vince. The sooner they get rid of the Vince to Houston crap, the lesser the problem becomes. The longer it goes, the more it is going to hurt the fan base if they don't take Young. Basically, they do not want to string the fans along. If there is never a doubt that they are taking Bush, then people will stop talking about Vince. They also are trying to show some confidence in Carr, that way he will not have to worry the next three months about if they will pick Vince. They have the first pick so they can announce who they want and have nothing to worry about.
And you think our line would do better for Young? This makes no sense. I don't know if this was mentioned in any of the 9,000,004 Young/Bush threads, but I was watching that Texans show hosted by Bob Allen. He spoke to McNair and Cass. Cass was asked about drafting "A" qb in the draft. Cass made it clear that Carr is here to stay and they will not draft Young. They asked Cass what he was going to do about the line, and he said that he needed to determine what system they're in first, which the new coaching staff takes a major part in. Now lets move on to rebuilding the line and potential players in free agency and draft. Young isn't coming.
i still say if Kubiak is heavily-involved in this decision, it's gonna be VY. Kubiak has seen denver have great success drafting RB's in late rounds who became pro-bowlers. The one guy they took as a high first round pick...they traded him away after his 2nd season. Meanwhile, he's seen Denver say, "we sure do miss Elway...we have a great system...great running backs...sure wish we had a real QB." they finally have one playing up to par. of course, his reputation was as a scrambler, as well.
I disagree. I think Kubiak will see that Carr deserves a chance with a good coach to see what he can do.
The problem is folks aren't going to stop talking about Vince. The VY talk will get worse in the next 3 months, not better.
