Waaaaaaaaaaah I have no sympathy for this guy whatsoever. None whatsoever. He's the jackass who engineered the trade to Cincinnati in the first place, and now he's complaining that life with a mid-market team sucks? No ****, Sherlock. Welcome to Reality, we've been saving you a seat. [This message has been edited by BrianKagy (edited July 29, 2001).]
Agreed...what the heck did this guy expect?? As you say, he engineered a trade to a mid-market team...because he once called it home. Now he's stuck on what is quite simply, a bad team...and you know it has to sting when he checks the standings each morning to find the Mariners on pace to have an historical season...WITHOUT HIM! Just like it had to sting last year when the M's made the playoffs...WITHOUT HIM! ------------------
I thought the Reds were GOOD without him..and they didnt give up a whole lot for him... What gives? ------------------ Who's ya daddy?
I would be pissed too if I got myself traded to a team and then, while I was injured, the team stunk up the joint and decided to dump salary. ------------------ I cut all the heads off of a Hydra, and all I got was this StupidMoniker. How else could they pay Griffey's salary? It's amazing how A-Rod and Griffey have helped their new teams improve ------------------ "For there is nothing either good or bad, thinking makes it so." - William Shakespeare (1564-1616), Hamlet
At least A-rod's team tried to sign other pitchers. With Hicks , texas is a large market team. Griffey is getting what he deserves, and so are the cocky red fans. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? The problem is that virtually the entire Reds team had career years the year before they acquired Griffey. When they returned to normal, the Reds returned to their expected level of play - sucking. ------------------ The time for logic and reason has come and gone. It's homer time now. Believe.
I would be pissed too if I got myself traded to a team and then, while I was injured, the team stunk up the joint and decided to dump salary. Except they sucked last year too, WITH him. In fact, he was a part of the suckiness last year. ------------------ http://www.swirve.com ... more fun than a barrel full of monkeys and midgets.
Actually the Reds finished in 2nd place in the Central, though they were far behind the Cards like everybody seemed to be, and how the Cubs are playing this year. The Cubs are going to win the Central this year, and everybody is acting like they're the happy little market but the Cubs are really a big market team. I can understand Griffey because he wants to win, and Reds management is dumping payroll on him, but the problem I really have, and I'll keep saying this, is that baseball needs to adopted some kind of basketball type salary cap. Mid-markets are struggling across the board, and it's getting ridiculous. ------------------ What if I say to you that the universe is a three-legged horse, eh? All the Reds had career years the year before Griffey arrived. The Reds got Griffey and suddenly Pokey is a .220 hitter, Casey is not the next Ted Williams, and Jose Rijo may make a comeback. I've never been a big fan of Griffey. He seems to get so annoyed with fans, and always thinks it is such a chore to do anything optional (homerun contests, al-star games). Alot of the Reds porblems are not his fault (his teammates not playing well) but dang I wish he would just go out there and act like he's having fun.
In his defense, dude does receive A LOT of death threats everyday. If a bunch of losers kept threatening to kill me or my family, I wouldn't be having much fun playing baseball either. I think it's just sad that the guy has become so apathetic towards the game he once seemed to love playing. ------------------ This post contains no smilies, you must judge my seriousness on your own...
Even if the Astros don't make it to the playoffs this year, it's always a good baseball year when the Reds and Mets are mired near the cellar in their respective divisions. I agree, although to be fair to Pippen, at least he managed to ride MJ's coattails to six championships. What's Junior got, one division title...?
Poor old Jr. Imagine a mid market team having to dump salary after mortgaging the franchise for 20 years paying HIS salary. ------------------ God help me, ...I was only nineteen. Current Rocket's Salary & Contract Info
I saw this dick in the airport during the off-season. This guy that works up there is a huge fan and went up to him to get an autograph. He gave him the sig, but he was the biggest ******* about it. Acted like it was the biggest chore in the world to sign his precious name to a scrap off paper. Kept giving my friend go-to-hell looks as he walked away.
