This year is very different in the Western Conference. Apart from two teams at the top ( one because the team is genuinely talented and other because the owner can buy the talent!)- the rest is pretty much up for grabs. A few bad streaks or injuries can topple the Play off Projections that are being made currently- based on historical trends.

One thing is for sure, the teams that have a chance at playoffs will play a lot harder in the second half of the season and seemingly ordinary teams will beat the championship caliber contenders.

It may well be that a 40 ( Sub- 0.5) game winning record may get the 8th play off spot.If we get our team healthy- WE WILL make the playoffs. And once we get there- it is about hunger to win , not excuses, that will get it done. The Question is are we Hungry? If some of the rabid fans are writing off our chances- I am not sure if the players can be blamed, they are human too!

I dunno bout lEASTERN conference being that much better. They've got 6 teams at or above .500 and we've got 8. True, you play more teams within your conference twice as much, but damn...when you have 4 teams with 40% win record fighting for the 8th spot in the east, and only the lakers who are at 8th playing at .500 ball, the run in the east seems more interesting. Not to mention Philly is at .485 and they're 7th. The strength (I feel) is still in the west.

But who cares about them? Our run is more important than any of those scrub teams. I only care about getting into the playoffs and yao coming back.

Hungry as in "eating soup with a fork hungry?"

    Per Ming Dynasty:

Thanks for clearing Kenny Smith's metaphor up for me. I never could figure out what his point was.

I wonder what the Nets or Miami would think of playing Denver and Golden State 2 more times per year-or the Rockets when we get our big man back...

I do not see the East as that much better than the West. Detroit is probably the best team in the league though....
