Randy Moss is far from the best WR in the NFL. That honor goes to Marvin Harrison or Terrell Owens easily. Carr has not had the talent or the right offensive system or the right coaching surrounding him in order to be successful. If you put Leinart into the Texans offense last season or this season you would have the same results you had with Carr. In fact alot of NFL scouts have questioned Leinart's arm strength.
Maybe he's overrated, ask pgabriel and MadMax about that, they'll give you a definite answer! Young is nothing like Vick anyway, Vick although blessed athletically is actually cursed too, sure he can run and throw hard, but he's way too short and fragile. His height in my opinion keeps him from reading defenses well and causes a lot of his passes to be batted down at the line, and now days he's getting hurt in the pocket more than he does on the run. Young is blessed in everyway, has everything Vick has plus height and durability, and I don't understand why people assume all QBs can't take as much punishment as RBs. Can someone please explain that to me? To me, you're either injury prone or you're not. I mean, what's up with Big Ben getting hurt all the time and David Carr never does? One hardly ever drops back to pass and the other gets hit 500 times a season. ???
You still haven't answered the question. What veteran player has been traded for a top 2 pick? Nitpick all you want about your personal preferences of wrs, but Moss is undoubtedly in the top tier of wrs and spin away all you want about how Carr still has hope but the fact remains that no one would give up a top 3 pick for him and toss ins.
ugh you're gonna get killed for even trying this. Its the overall beating RBs take. How many 36 year old RBs do you see in the league versus how many 36 year old QBs? It's a general consensus that RB is probably the shortest shelf life of the positions.
plus when you consider the fact that Marshall Faulk (coming out of Indy) only fetched a 2nd or 3rd rounder, and that Edge and Alexander couldnt even fetch a 2nd round pick last year...
Please. Big games are big games. Games against Prairie View-level competition don't mean a thing. You want to see what the top picks will do against talented defenses in pressure situations. Bush was contained. Not even on the field alot of the time or in critical situations. Totally ineffective returning kicks. I could see him making the Pro-Bowl on the right NFL team, but I was disappointed, frankly. I want the #1 pick to dominate at his position and be on that d@mn field. And as mentioned 1000 times already, because we have Casserly around, trading down for depth is foolish, so we have to pick a guy at #1. Who do you suggest?
Killed for what? It's a valid point. 36 is a bad age to start with, you could get killed for starting off with that age! There aren't that many 36 year old anythings at any of the skill positions, not even one quarterback off the top of my head, not even Favre is that old I don't think. I guess you can get into veteran backups, but they're backups because they're old and not that good anymore, again, you're either injury prone or you're not. David Carr can take a hit, Michael Vick can't, Vince Young looks like he can.
Watch OTL tonight http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/story?id=1550600 Texas Two-Step Thursday, January 5, 2006 12:40 a.m. ET (9:40 p.m. PT) on ESPN Before last night's Rose Bowl, it looked like USC's Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush was a shoe-in as the No. 1 pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. But Texas quarterback Vince Young's man-among-boys performance not only brought the Longhorns the national championship, it may have also vaulted him ahead of Bush in the draft. The Houston Texans may now face a dilemma -- if both Young and Bush enter the draft, should they stick with their plan and draft Bush, or now go after the Houston-born Young? Outside The Lines explores how the results of the Rose Bowl may have Houston doing a Texas Two-Step on draft day. Bob Ley hosts. Whether he can take a hit or not. If Young scrambles as much as he does in college, he'll take his fair share of knocks. He doesn't have nearly the fluidity of movement that Vick has. If you don't like the Vick comparision, then just look at McNabb and the effect the licks have had on his body.
You can't compare Young to McNabb, he was more of a passer, and hated to run. Vince Young will be the next Mike Vick/ Randal Cunniham.
I'd take the hometown Vince Young over Carr anyday. And if I had the 1st pick and Vince declared for the draft, I'd draft him with no regrets. If Vince doesn't come out, draft Reggie Bush, which isn't a bad option.
I didn't say he didn't. I said that he hated to run. His coach had to tell him to pull it down and go more often.
Carr hasn't had anything to work with. I'm saying if Young was our QB this year, he wouldn't have done what Carr did. He damn sure wouldn't have gone off against Jax like Carr did.
