I liked Bill calling him "The Third" last night was entertaining. I was really impressed with this kid. He has alot of hustle and alot of confidence right off the bat.

I for one didn't expect much from him but gotta give the little dude props. He looked like a vet, playing with alot of confidence. He pushed the ball when needed but pulled it back out and didn't force it when there was nothing there and started to set up the offense.

Hopefully he continues to develop and can contribute more.

I like JL3 too. Reminds me of Luther when he got out on that court. No fear, go show em what you got.

Why all the Moochie-hatin? Did I miss something he did before, besides having a down season after his contract year? He's done well for us lately, playing with an injured groin (not fun). Made plays, made buckets...why is it so hard for this board in general to just support whoever is on the team? I guess too many people prefer to play pretend-GM. I play Rocket-fan so maybe we are just different.

Ive been saying all along what this team needs is youth and athleticism at the guard spots. JLIII and Head look good for the future.

Where does it definitively say John Lucas III has moved ahead of Moochie in the rotation? It was only one game.

Technically, Josh Davis is our 16th player, the extra spot that NBA granted us as we have alot of the active players injured.

John Lucas III was signed in expense of Stephen Graham who was waived.

moochie looks old, remember back in the days before Yao he could get his shot off in the lane, now when he penetrates he's doomed. he actually played alright this season but if you get that speed from LukeIII and a good shot there's no reason to play mooch.

I don't "hate" Moochie but sorry players like him help give all NBA players a bad name. Remember, he had a decent year for the Rockets, held out, and got a contract nobody could understand the Rockets giving him? After getting the guaranteed money he turned into a completely worthless scrub until this season. This year his contract is expiring so he's brought his game up a little hoping to dupe another team into signing him.

I have NO RESPECT AT ALL for players like Moochie. His sorry ethic (or lack any ethic) represents a lot of what's wrong with the NBA.

solid, he's living the dream all right. The dream of getting paid a lot and then doing zip to earn it. I can't help but dislike the guy.

Point taken. I'm all for Mooch playing hard now. But he'd be stupid to expect, and the Rockets would be stupid to give him anything large regardless of how he plays. He is old, and he IS 3rd string. The holding out thing, was before I followed contract things and stuff more closely. So again, point taken. :)

They waived him to stop from having to guarantee his contract...he will be back on Tuesday.

January 10 is the NBA deadline when all non-guaranteed contracts for players on the roster will be given guaranteed contracts for the rest of the season.

As John Lucas III only plays for 12 ~ 13 minutes, even though he showed heart, energy, hustle and sparks for the team, it is too early and risky to commit on him for the rest of the season.

Right after January 10, NBA teams are allowed to sign 10-day contracts with Free Agents. As long as John Lucas III won't be signed by other teams ahead of the Rockets, we can always get him back.
