RockHEAD's thread reminded me of something, and I just want be able to say you heard it here first...

I have a friend who is kind of high up in the biggest liquor distributor here in Texas. He told me that due to lobbying, liquor will be available in Grocery stores in Texas sometime in 2007. I thought i would give yall a heads up (if it's true)

interesting......I wonder if this will also mean a change in times in which it is available for sale?

Its silly not too. Almost every other state I have ever lived in has it. Now if they would lift the ridiculous label laws that they have so we could get some decent beer then it would be even better.

    edit:
These kind of laws REALLY piss me off. What is the point in not having liquor available on Sundays? Example: I wanted to make a sauce for dinner and needed Cognac. I COULD NOT BUY ****ING COGNAC TO COOK WITH!!! Even if I wanted to down the whole freaking bottle and get drunk, I should be able to purchase it if I want to. I am of age and an adult. I dont need the government to tell me when I can and cannot buy alcohol for whatever reason I so choose.

They should consider banning Miller Lite, Coors Lite, and Bud Light. Or at least call it something else besides beer.

It irks me when someone asks me if I want a beer, and then proceeds to offer me a Miller Lite.

Eh, I disagree. Dog **** is free, and I'm not particularly inclined to accept that either.

So, if I use my Kroger's card, I'll get coupons for $1 off on Jagermeister?

    Awesome.

    It's insane!

We can't actually do something like that!

We'd actually be catching up to other major metropolitan cities around the nation!

Next thing you'll know, there'll be little carts selling hot dogs on the streets (which is currently illegal in Houston).

    It's crazy!

That would be awesome! I am so sick of having to make extra trips to the liqor store to pick up tequila when we make margaritas.

    Most definitely!

If I'm going to damage my body with beer, then let's do it up right and give me a beer!

What label laws are you referring to? I'm not sure what beer you can't currently get (my favorite is Sammy Smith's line).

Call me crazy, but I like the fact Texas has all these crazy laws. Makes us different from the rest of the country.
