The Gov. of W. VA is an idiot. What a horrible thing to do. I can't beleive he released that information about 13 survivors before it was confirmed. I understand wanting to get the good news out, but there is a reason to wait on confirmation. What a horribl tragedy.
I was watching the Penn State game last night and flipped over to Univision, then I saw that there was a bulletin saying that the bodies had been found. Just sad. Risky. Please explain this one. Either I am not an "Internet lingo" connoisseur or I may be stupid (or both), but I would like to hear an explanation of why you posted this. A "rip +" could have sufficed.
This sux...I saw the headlines while watching the game last night...Then this morning, finding out they were wrong, really sucked... RIP...
Holy crap. CNN is showing clips from different times throughout the night. Crazy. Went from celebration at 11 PM to crying at 2 AM.
I don't see that the Governor did anything wrong. He didn't pass the news. He commented on what everyone else was hearing. The news would have run with it regardless because everyone was celebrating. The Governor was celebrating prematurely with the rest of them but, apparently, the news came down unofficially through cell phone calls and overheard conversations that they were alive. There was no official statement given that they were alive. At least, that is what I have been reading. I think the real problem came down in all the unofficial communications between certain people on the rescue side and families of the miners on the other side...instead of letting one official voice convey official statements. That was the real mistake. Can you imagine celebrating when your loved ones are actually dead? That's the worse part. I would need some drugs to cope after that.
The thing that makes it even worse is... apparently it was realized after 20 minutes that the information was wrong... but the families were allowed to celebrate for 3 hrs.
I was reading an article and it seems that mine had recieved numerous citations from government inspectors including one on Dec 21 for accumulation of combustible materials
