It was Flutie. Good read. http://www.basketballdraft.com/football/nfl/news/1998/10/22/drz_onfootball/
Chuck Norris hates kicking people across the Atlantic, he does it across the pacific cuz its farther.
They did it just to do it because nothing was at stake. Because it's only worth the same as a regular PAT which has a much higher success rate.
Basically yeah, you get more power with a drop kick. In Rugby League and Rugby Union, drop kicks are taken at basicaly any point in a game. Thats why they are still around....Imagine a quater back dropping back and kicking a drop kick. You get points when close to the goal line and its good for certain game situations. In the NFL, unless its worth more points than a normal place kick....Im not really sure when they would do it unless they had NOTHING to lose and when for it. Its probably a really weird thing to see happen in the U.S. but in other countries with Rugby League and Rugby Union, drop kicks are a normal thing. Like I said, I've seen players kick them form 55 metets out (Longer than 55 yards) in game situations with a defence rushing at them. In his school I used to stand on the goal line and dropkick balls that would curve around from no angle at all and go through the posts and over the bar. Its just what we used to do during lunch times.
http://www.basketballdraft.com/football/nfl/news/1998/10/22/drz_onfootball/ So if they havent changed the rule again since then that should mean you can still drop kick a FG but only behind the LOS I would think.
so................ what exactly is the point of a drop kick? do u get any more points or something? why would u have a qb who never kicks, try this ridiculous bounce-first kick-second action... instead of a normal fg?
For whatever reason I thought this was gonna be someone asking us how to do a proper dropkick in a fight, then I started giggling cuz I thought how funny it owuld look if someone actually dropkicked another person in a fight.
The dropkick in the NFL is a very old thing thats been left in the game from when the sport was part of a group of sports general known as "Rugby". Back then, it had a purpose. These days...it doesnt.
