Everyone is excited about the prospect of getting Bush, but i want people to open their minds and think business first. When the demand is higher than the supply, you own the market. Many will want Bush, but alot of people want bush, but lets look at recent history of team who had this position.

Last yr the Chargers had the pick and a team that wanted a player. The Chargers could get the player they wanted further down. What did the do? The took the player, traded him for the player they wanted plus a 2nd pick and a first this yr. They got a qb whom they'll trade for a 1st, the kicker plus some guy named Shawn Merriman.

In 2001, they were in the same boat and being that sorry they needed to plug holes. Again a team wanted the top pick so what did the chargers do? The gave Atlanta Vick, drafted LT and still drafted Brees in the 2nd rd. Now I ask the question. As a Texan fan would you prefer to have a potential pro-bowl OT in Ferguson and pick up a extra 1st maybe next season and a 2nd this yr or just take Bush?

I think I hear the "Fire Casserly Brigade" lining up...

I could definitely live with passing on Bush, but we have to get players in the later rounds who can eventually play-- this has been a problem in Houston.

i tihnk you definitely have to take bush. hes the player you want as the face of the franchise. hes the one you sell merchandise to. hes like LT, an electrifying game breaker. hes the type that will be on the cover of madden not d'brick. the media would BURN us if we passed on bush. what if he went to a big market team like the jets or niners, we'd never hear the end of it

We have not used extra draft picks wisely.

If Bill Walsh was drafting - yes, trade down for multiple picks.

If Charley Casserly is drafting - no.

Since Reggie Bush is the highest ranked player in many years it would take at least 2 number 1's, 2 number 2's and a 3 for me to even consider it.

I'd prefer to take the "can't miss" prospect.

San Diego passed on Vick and Manning and wound up with Merriman,LT and Brees plus the pick they'll get from Rivers. Do you want to sell t-shirts or win games. There is a reason franchis lineman dont move team yet the seahawks and indy couldn't get a 1st rd pick for edge and alexander. Wonder why Carson plamer doesn't get his jersey dirty? Levi Jones and Willie anderson on the ends. You can find Reggie Bush anywhere. Think about it. Look at the top backs in the league and only LT went above 5. All others were 5 or lower. Look at Alexander,Portis,Johnson,R.Johnson,Barber,T.Jones,Edge,Ricky, Duece, and whomever. None were above 5.

And what makes you think Ferguson is such a sure thing. Last year's cornerstone lineman Robert Gallery, has really struggled as has Mike Williams, and Leonard Davis. Jordan Gross has been somewhat inconsistent as well.

The draft is always a crapshoot. Just because you have multiple draft choices does not mean you'll make the right picks.

We had multiple picks and what do we have to show for them?

Andre Johnson and Dunta Robinson are the only pro-bowl caliber players on this team.

Reggie Bush is arguably the greatest college football player to ever come out.

    You draft him. no question!

Bush is the highest rated prospect EVER according to the pro scouting services. If you pass on him you're an idiot. That's like a team passing on Michael Jordan because they already had an average shooting guard.

    I absolutely agree with this.

If the feeling was Casserly could parlay the extra picks into reasonably successful selections, then I would be amenable to trading down. But therein lies the rub.

What good is accumulating extra picks if they're going to be used on the likes of Jason Babin, Benny Joppru, Tony Hollings, Dave Ragone, Phillip Buchanan (via trade), etc...

Bottom line: If Casserly is calling the shots I would pray he simply takes Bush.

So you are going to beleive that he will be better than Edge,Alexander,LT,Portis and some of these other great backs eventhough he's playing with the greatest compliment of offensive talent probaly since 01 miami. Yet Portis went in the 2nd rd , McGahee was a late 1st and Gore is somewhere later than that. I think really when you look White will be a Alaxender type of touchdown maker down in and down out.

Yeah, I do. I've been an avid college football fan for the last 20 years, and I've never seen a talent like Reggie Bush. I watched Portis all through college and he was never anywhere close to as electrifying as Bush. Gore and McGahee both had serious knee injuries, so I'm not sure why you're even throwing them in this conversation. The scouting services that NFL teams hire consider Bush a better pro prospect than all of those players. Apparently you have it figured out though, so maybe you should be hired by these scouting services.

No need in sitting here and arguing back and forth with you about what the right pick is. Only time will tell.

Our oline isn't that bad. DD does well behind it and did you notice that SF got NO pressure on Banks? Because Banks made decisions and then acted on them. He didn't do what Carr does, hold onto the ball too long and run out of a pocket that hasn't yet collapsed. Running into the defenders.

    Carr is the problem.

Yes he will be as good as those guys, probably even better. All the signs say he will be barring injury.

More often than not, I would probably be inclined to want a trade for multiple picks. But Bush (though not similar in style) seems like another Earl Cambell to me, and not someone I think we should pass on.

I agree with the rest of your post, but I think you forgot Jerome Mathis...

If a good deal comes along, you listen. But otherwise, you have to go with the "cant miss" thing. D'Brick is a great prospect; Bush is "can't miss." Now, I'm going to let the scouts do their thing and form their own opinions, but I think can't miss beats great...

And as for the blocking: everyone wants to pile on Carr and say, "Well, the line can't be that bad, DD gets 1000 yards." What you don't seem to understand is: RUN BLOCKING AND PASS BLOCKING ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BEASTS.

Then just to let you know it takes more than one great player to make a football team a contender. Is not like basketball where one player can make a huge difference.

The only difference between all those other teams trading picks and ours is that McNair has lost so much in ticket sales and concessions becuase the team sucks.

Bush will automatically get people back in their seats to watch games, Increase in Jersey sales, and endorsment money from the pick.

To him it's a business move as well and will ensure him the most money for next year.

If we trade the picks and get people to help our team it's going to be a slower process to get fans back in the seat or spending any type of money on merchandise. The fans will want to see results first before shelling out money to go the games.

With Reggie being drafted all the hype will immediatly bring fans back. Im sure they are looking at every aspect and this one is on their minds as well.
