My excuse, too. My wife, who is vastly pregnant, insisted that we stay home, make virgin drinks, and order a pizza.

I think it's safe to say the stupidest people in the world are the idiots who stand out in the cold in Times Square for hours. I'd much rather be drunk out in the middle of a field setting off amateur fireworks.

Granted, this was the first New Year's I set them off. Went okay, and I was going to head out again for the rest, but then some random drunk guy came to our door saying he was bleeding and requested $60 for gas (he's done this before). Of course, the rest of the family (brother, his gf, other brother, the parents) deemed going out unsafe. HA! All I could do is laugh and wonder why the hell I decided to stay in.

Probably awful to say, but I think I've just about outgrown this family. Here's to being optimistic and hoping 2006 will be totally awesome!!!

So far it's just another day on the calendar. :D

me... the New Year's thing is overrated anyway, and I don't 1) drink or 2) like crowds. Sitting around with a small group of family or friends making fun of the stuff on TV is fine by me. In this case, it was just me and my mom. I need to head back to Texas tomorrow so I didn't want to be out tonight anyway.

Went to the park when the fireworks started here in Vegas. Then went home when they were done. My drinking and acting like an idiot night is on Wednesday's.

Blah, I'd forgotten how much I hate being around drunk people... I left the bums shortly after midnight while they wallowed in their own vomit (well close to it anyway). That and the place was packed - can't stand that. aarrgggg...

It reminded me of why I hate New Year's parties and usually just stay home. Now I'm in the confines of my home where I shall proceed to watch a movie or two today...

We were out celebrating in Austin with friends, and spent the night at the Hilton. Our biggest regret was going to Antone's for the period leading up to midnight. Packed like a sardine can, not one chair, table or barstool in sight. Not one. (there should be a law!) We could have handled that, although our legs are older than they once were, but the music was god-awful. Why I expected some good blues, and something you could dance to (yes, you sure as hell can dance to the blues!), is a mystery. (insert roll-eyes here) Clifford Antone needs to go into a program to find his soul. Why he booked these idiots... hey, it blows my mind.

I heard far better music at Threadgill's at brunch, on Barton Springs. Wish they had played at Antone's. Such is life. With that vent out of the way, we still had a gas. Happy New Year, everyone!!

Well I was one of those who went out and got drunk and acted like an idiot, except that I let someone else do the driving.

We did a mini pub crawl starting at a bar down the street from me and then hopped the Minneapolis LRT to a bar downtown and then hit an all night greasy spoon at 3AM.

Not as exciting as last year when me and my buddies did the same thing where some guy wanted to get in a fight with me since I stopped him from harrassing a girl and then picked up a girl wandering around downtown after the gay friend of hers who went out with her left to go off with some other gay guy.
