The one difference I have noticed in the NBDL is that the level of confidence of most of the players is shaky.

They all have NBA talent, but most of them don't necessarily believe it.

Marcus Fizer does, but he doesn't play with the same passion or energy he had at Iowa State.

Andre Emmitt is a very good scorer, but he just will not look to pass, and some of the fans are calling him "Anre" as in ...no D.

The other players are all pretty good, and have potential, but most lack the confidence needed to truly set themselves apart.

However, one player has stood out to me as a player that could really help an NBA team, and especially my NBA team, the Houston Rockets.

Ezra Williams could help the Rockets now

Ezra Williams has one of the sweetest jumpers I have ever seen, it is effortless, he plays good defense and handles the rock fairly well and tonight he had sweet 2 handed follow up dunk,.

I sit right next to the team doctor behind the Toros bench and we talk about all the players and their deficencies or playing styles etc...and the one thing that struck us both is that Ezra just looks ready to make that leap.

He plays the game smartly, and IMHO is better than anyone we have at the 2 guard on the Rockets even when all are healthy....with the exception of Tmac of course.

He is 6'4" and should be in the NBA.......maybe he has just had a hot start, but he is averaging about 14ppg after tonights 27, and shooting around 50% from the floor and about 46% from the 3pt line.

The guy should be in the NBA....I hope the Rockets take a good look at him.

Bring him on; can't hurt to give him a shot.

What is his NBA background? Summer leagues? Late cut, etc?

Why do you think he is being overlooked?

How good is his D? Does he have high BB IQ?

Yes, he has a high BB IQ. He moves very well without the ball, which is something that is sorely missing on all levels of basketball.

Early on in the year Dennis Johnson had him as the 6th man, and everytime he came in the Toros went on a run.

DJ was a great player, but as a coach...well, so far, reviews are mixed.

There is a lot of NBA talent in the D-league, but not a lot of confidence.

As for Giddyups question, his D is fine and his footspeed is more than adequate.

In fact, I would rather have him playing than Jon Barry or Derek Anderson......that is how good he is....

He was waived by Seattle earlier this year, and was not drafted.

And Derek Zimmerman at PG is not too far behind, though John Lucas III was better than him...good pickup by us.

    Ezra's draft profile

He made a VERY poor choice signing with Seattle this year, they had no space at the 2 guard spot with Ray Allen and Flip Murray etc....

He should have signed with a team with a good PG, he would really SHINE as a shooter coming off screens......etc....

    Ezra's draft profile:

    I like this part:

Strengths: Not afraid to take big shots at end of games, he is a physical guard who muscles defenders to get the shot he wants.

How is he compared to Alex Scales? Scales looked good in preseason with us a couple years back. I thought he should have made the team. But we cut him and he's been bouncing around the globe ever since. I saw where he signed with somebody in the NBDL or CBA last week. He had a decent handle, great hops, and good shot with tenacious defense and 6'4" size.

Scales also plays on the Toros, we just signed him this week. He looked good, but it is still too early to tell on him.

I think he was with San Antonio earlier this year.

I would take Ezra over Alex at this point.
