That's the record the Rockets must have for the rest of the season in order to win fifty games. Doesn't seem likely, does it? The "it's early" excuses are rapidly becoming irrelevant. Injures, no injuries, or more injuries (is that possible?) it all comes down to this: if the Rockets are going to be in the playoffs instead of the lottery, they will have to go on a tear and soon.
I'm one of the more optimistic guys on this board and I gotta admit, I'm starting to get pretty worried. Without Tmac and Yao both on the floor together, we're just not a very good team
you obviously want to improve upon last year's record if possible and i think we could have but injuries have ravaged the team. if the team can make the 8th spot despite all the injuries healthy i think we'll be fine in the playoffs. obviously it will suck to have to play the spurs in the first round but if we are all healthy come playoff time the rockets have imo the best shot of taking the spurs in a 7 game series than anyone else in the west
Aren't we like 3 games out of the 8th spot right now? Things are not going well, but we're not completely sunk either. Seems like we are suffering from the curse of El Nino and the Russian space station Mir all in the same season. If we can tread water until the team reaches full strength, we may just sneak into the playoffs.
It's not going to require 50 games to make the playoffs this year, I don't think it will. But yes, you're right, there is little time to waste. Unfortunately, we're stuck with our fortunes until our players get back, that's just the reality of things.
Other than San Antonio and Dallas right now, there is a lot of parity in the west. 34-22 the rest of the way will get the Rockets in this year. It's doable, but not without a risky trade made by the Rockets.
I'm not an optimist or pessimist, just a realist, and the Rockets I think right now would be more like 10th, and it is not a great looking draft so far, but I've started thinking about that seriously. They could really use some young, athletic role players anyway, and the higher they pick in the first round, the higher they pick in the second round, too.
we've been at the point for the past couple of weeks where we can't afford to drop any more games to bad teams regardless of injuries. losing to utah and toronto hurt a lot, even at this point because when you are 10-16 or whatever our record is now, you have to beat the lesser teams and we aren't doing that. i'm at the point right now where if we just MAKE the playoffs, i'll be happy, even as an 8 seed. to me that would be almost miraculous.
8th spot is still an acheivable goal. kinda like what denver did last year. came out of no where to get the 7th spot. but you gotta think yao wont be back for another month. we have player except tracy who makes shots on a nightly basis. when one guy has a good night like swift today against hornets, then head makes 1-10. can't have that. we have a mediocore team and in order for us to win all our players have to play their best. we have no guard penetration, we have no outside shoot, all we had was yao's inside threat and thats not even there anymore.
Last season, Nuggets fired their coach Jeff Bzedlik (???) and replaced him with George Karl. Nuggets went on to end the season 35-4 (something like that) records to make the playoffs. Well, the rockets can do the same.... replace JVG with Hubie Brown and end the season with 39-0 to claim the seventh seed of western conference..... Damn... Am i dreaming?????
Well, last year the Nuggets had what could pass as a legitimate NBA caliber rotation, unlike this year's injury-riddled Rockets team. I find it hard to believe Hubie Brown or any other coach would be able to turn this team into a contender without a significant majority of our injured players returning to the lineup.
maybe we win the lottery and the Texans and Rockets both have the first pick in the draft in the same year, again. (2002 Yao Ming & David Carr)
Yes. Le$ is not going to pay off Mr. Van Gundy's contract. There is a possibility regime change will happen this offseason, but next is much more likely.
I basically lose the playoff's wishes on Rockets this season. why not put our vison farther? let M.D and YM have a nice rest. next season they will have more energy.
this is like reading the Astro's forum last June. Four games out of the playoffs. In December. Potentially entering April with a healthy and stacked team. Not ready to give up my seat on the bandwagon just yet.
