Any of you gonna see the movie?

I saw the trailer recently. Not sure if I'm gonna see it or not. I didn't liek that book that much, thought Angels and Demons was a far more superior book. I'm not sure how well it will play out on teh screen. Dan Brown's characters alway tend to go off on 1,000 word spiels about every single little thing. Try not to talk about the stuff in the movie or this will get moved to D&D. Just stick to whether you think the book will translate well onscreen. I personally loved the Narnia books, but I thoguht the movie was quite dull and not very well paced.

I think it will. Seriously, with Ron Howard and Tom Hanks, you know you're at least going to have an entertaining movie. Plus, Audrey Tautou is a bonafide hottie.

I wasn't impressed with the book much because it read like a Hollywood script. It better translate to the screen well; that seems what it's meant for.

Hard to go wrong with Tom Hanks. He'll make something happen no matter what he's given.

What's Angels and Demons? A sequel or prequel?

Prequel, and I recommend it highly. Only problem with it is the same problem Dan Brown has with all his books, there is always one sinister puppetmaster who is behind everything. Also get used to reading alot about people sighing. None of his characters ever say something normally, it's always "he yelled" or "she defiantly said" or "he chuckled as he told her"

I think Ron Howard and Tom Hanks are wasting their talent on this movie.

The Da Vinci Code was a decently entertaining book. However, it was 100% plot driven without any attempt at character development or interesting dialogue.

Since I've read the book, none of the surprises would be interesting enough to hold my attention. Unlike The Sixth Sense, which is a great film without the twist ending, I don't think anyone who has read the book would enjoy the movie.

There sure seems to be a lot of DaVinci Code hate around here. Personally, I loved the book and I'm really looking forward to the movie. While I know that a lot of what was in the book was bull****, it still made for a fun story. It was one of the more entertaining books I have read.

well it was meant as a polarizing view, so the hate/love shouldnt surprise anyone. me personally, I kinda see it as Aeon FLux or any of the other movies i havent seen this year. It doesn't seem like a good movie, so I'm not gonna bother watching it. 10 bux is a lot of money man

I liked the book pretty well, save for the stuff passed off as fact by Brown...but that's a different thread.

I read somewhere that the screenplay has been changed enough that people who have read the book won't be completely bored. They will manage to do things differently enough in the end that you won't see everything coming.

Now, whether or not that will translate into a good movie remains to be seen. I absolutely love Tom Hanks. Ron Howard is pretty good, so the screenplay would have to be total crap to ruin the movie...but you never know.

I see one major problem though. Dan Brown's puppetmaster villain and his identity in the Code is so central to the book that perosnally dont see how much they could change. Can you imagine reading the Sixth Sense, then seeing the movie?
