Bill: "Let's look at that 3-pointer by Tracy again"

    [Start of Replay]

Bill: "Look at the elevation TMac gets under his shot. That is amazing how he can rise up over the defense like that!"

Clyde: "Yes, Bill! The ability to rise over the defense is certainly super amazing! And, OOOOOOH, nothing but net!!! Another 3 for TMac!!!"

    [End of Replay]

Bill: "Well, Swift returns to the court in place for Mutombo. Swift has no rebounds in 25 minutes of play tonight."

Clyde: "Stromile Swift certainly has the ability but the sun has been in is eyes. So, we just have to give him time to get acclimated and he will be fine."

Clyde is the biggest kiss ass announcer I have ever heard. He's basically a yes-man.

    clyde just adds nothing intelligent..

I think anyone who vaguely knows the game of basketball could give us the insights that he attempts to provide.

I expect to hear something I didn't notice...or at least something my mom wouldn't have noticed. Or some explanation that requires knowledge..

can you imagine if the Rockets go on to win a championship and his voice is the one to be immortalized on the Final Call

Bill "AND THE ROCKETS GO ON TO BECOME 2005-2006 NBA CHAMPIONS IN AN UNBELIEVABLE MIRACLE COMEBACK SEASON"

    Clyde "Championships are good Bill"

    Yes, we certainly have.

I think what fromobile was experiencing was a sort of reverse "frog in the boiling water" phenomenon. If you put a frog in water and slowly increase the heat, it will not notice for a while.

Similarly, Clyde Drexler has tortured us slightly less than he was at the beginning. Instead of being extremely brutal, now he is just regularly brutal. Fromobile thought the pain was gone, but really it's still there.

That would be classic. I almost want to see him to stay just for that.

I kind of figured that this would turn into a "Bring Calvin back" thread.

Drexler has improved and should continue to get better.

weird, with the closing of MNF I have to say this is what Howard Cosell was complaining about sports broadcasting coming to. No talent, no training, pretty boy athletes getting jobs that they have no business.

These teams and networks act like the broadcasterdoesn't add anything to the game, but that's part of what made MNF great. that and good games. but these guys can be former athletes but they just need to have talent.

Bring back Calvin - would be a most outstanding move! But Alexander seems to be of the Drayton McLane school of PR - absolutely no idea of the value the paid announcrs bring to the table (cf. Alan Ashby).

Clyde offers no insight, no analysis, not to mention no excitement. Boring! He's about as good a color commentator as he was a college BB coach.

OTOH, Matt Bullard is much, much better, at least compared to Drexler and Van Chancellor.

ok, ok, ok. Enough of the Calvin Murphy lovefest. Calvin Murphy was really annoying for a lot of people, including myself at times.

Look, if anyone has the league pass, you know, Houston has it great. Ever listened to the bucks comentary? What about the Nuggets? It all sucks. Calvin got old, clyde does too, but at least clyde isn't as intrusive. Calvin had to be turned down sometimes, god bless him.

Me? I'm interested in the basketball, not what the people have to say, so it's nice having unintrusive color commentary. I think Calvin was full of hot air a lot, not saying a lot that was very interesting.

It's also nice hearing what Bill has to say. With Calvin, it seemed like Bill never predicted plays...etc. Now he seems to more. It's kind of nice. It's a nice laid back TV experience.

    Keep Him!

...2 thumbs down (because I only have 2 thumbs). Clyde is a master of the obvious and a master of old worn-out cliches.

its seems like your only legitimate is that he was loud, which I can understand. As far as predicting plays, he's the COLOR guy. that's what a good color guy would do, predict plays, explain plays that were just run, etc. Bill is the PLAY BY PLAY guy, a job he does well, but that is all he should be doing while the action is going on.

    Clyde does neither btw.

If we can't have Calvin back, at least Clyde is passable.
I just wish Bill would stop kissing his ass so much... gets old
