Anyone ever buy from www.TireRack.com or any other place online (Minus E-Bay)? I need to get a new set of tires for my project car and while the prices are better online I don’t know if it's the best all around option.. Any advice good or bad would be greatly appreciated.

TireRack is legit and you can get some good deals from them. Just make sure to factor in shipping.

If the tires that you want from Tire Rack are at Discount Tires, they will price match. Or so my co-worker told me.

I bought tires online a couple of yrs ago. I thought I was saving money also, but by the time all was said and done I didnt save a thing.
You have to figure in the shipping, and then dont forget you have to get them mounted and balanced once you get them. I think it cost like $75.00 for that.
Then I ended up getting something stuck in the tire and had to pay to have it fixed, because there was nobody to go back to.
The next time I bought tires I just went back to discount tire where all of the above is already included, and I will never buy online again.

agreed, but the shipping is a crapshoot since it almost equals what u would be paying. i bought my tires off tirerack. and saved like 10-20 bucks. Almost not worth it.

I always use tire rack to research surveys to see which tires are the best for my application.

Then I buy the tires at Discount. The savings are negligible after all is said and done, and I like to have Discount on my side if I have problems later on down the road.

If you have someone who will mount and balance for cheap then gong through tirerack is best. Otherwise you usually have to pay an additional 20 bucks per tire to have it mounted and balanced elsewhere.

Discount Tire will price match but remember they will still charge you tax though Tirerack willc harge you shipping. Discount tire though comes with a pro-rated warranty while tirerack you'd have to add it on.

If you don't want the warranty you can waive it at discount to make it cheaper a bit.

I've gone through both and for me I have someone who will mount and balance for cheap so i'd probably go tirerack. I'd save more money even if I were to get the roadhazard warranty from tirerack.

The problem with tirerack is that after ordering the tires, and if I want/need future balance/rotation and tire maintenance, where do I go?

Overall though, they have better tires/wheels than Discount Tire.

FYI, this is what I did with my last set of tires. I had Discount Tires match the price another online retailer was quoting me.
